Hungers Games is one of those rare series that has broad appeal -- adults and young adults are both drawn to its dark subject matter and characters that are inherently flawed, yet absolutely likable. The books are page-turners, the kind that transplant you instantly once you are just a few lines in, pulling you from your own reality into an ominous, post-apocalyptic future that is simultaneously far-fetched, yet somehow disturbingly believable. Suzanne Collins is a brilliant, imaginative writer and I have no doubts she'll cap off this trilogy with another quality tale.
@Iis4island: I'd like to second this comment, though I've been an io9 reader for a while now. But the posts about writing are right up my alley. Keep it up, Charlie Jane!

Good article. I agree that sometimes you never realize until you go back through. If you do it right, your critiquers/readers won't (or at least are less likely to) get confused about who is talking if you are doing your best to trim down the tags. Working on my fourth NaNoWriMo novel right now, and I'm going to try to keep this in mind as I go forward through a solid month of writing. No. 4 is probably the easiest way to differentiate, but No. 7 is a nice thought. For me personally, No. 1 and No. 3 are of vital importance. #writing
I won't see the movie, but I might watch the series. Apocalypse has been done before, and done badly, and the trailers for 2012 don't give me any hope of it having a smidgen of redeeming value. Checking out the TV series takes much less effort. I can DVR the first episode and give it 40 minutes of my time without dropping down $10-plus. #2013
Interesting, interesting. Now to weave this into the plot of my NaNoWrimo effort! #blackholes
