well, the current exchange rate puts an image at 1000 words. Since that image has 8 words in it, it weighs in at 1008, so I think the dude abides.
Looks like SpeechTrans dropped and raised their price in the same day. Back up to $19.99
@phoenix: I just don't understand why people can't have valid differing opinions based on real life experiences.
Is it a crime that I still haven't seen the 3rd one?
@twophrasebark:

"So was Ted Kaczynski."

Nice sensationalism there.

@seraosha: See there's your problem...apparently you didn't get the memo that says you aren't supposed to like SciFi that the "masses" have said is good.
Didn't Mark Millar once get quoted as saying people who play video games are pedophiles? [www.1up.com]

People should have learned by now that things are taken way out of context on the intertron.

As for the comments about Ender's Game having an unsurprising ending, that's partially because of other media borrowing on the concept. When I read it when it first came out, sure it was surprising. If I read it now, I would probably expect it.

It's like if you watched Pulp Fiction now for the first time. When it was released, it was somewhat unique. Nowadays, not so much.

As for Card being a jerk, I ran into him in San Diego a couple years back and chatted with him for a while. He was a nice person.

I think we all just need to calm down and agree that Mark Millar is a straight up racist.

@falconrugger06: Yeah, having spent a good bit of time surfing, I agree on the heat issue. It's one thing I have found goofy about the comic. Millar really should have had an editor tell him that a wetsuit wouldn't work.
@gybryant: Frankly, it's upper middle class white liberal guilt that makes it taboo. It's also a fear that if they enjoy a movie where a white kid beats up a black kid, they are racists.
@meirelle, Commander Closet Commie: then again, if you lived there you might not care what's going to happen in 80 years.
@braak: More than a Mario clone about Obama
sorry, what does this have to do with scifi?
Very salient points. I would have to say I completely agree.

At a time when we are being constantly barraged by the Obama information overload (kudos to his campaign for using the internet, a curse on all of my friends who were sending me non-stop Obama updates), it would have been nice to have at least one blog I read stay on target.

We've been kicking the discussion around the house for a while about who should be the next.

I actually think Lee Pace would be a great Doctor, although it would be odd to have an American in the role.

Also, given Moffat's involvement in the series, Ben Miles of Coupling fame would be an entertaining choice.

Apparently part of his plan is to go to a cheaper web host that isn't up all the time.
I put together a cheap Tony Stark costume with a LED camping lantern and a blue balloon

@dchall8: I think you hit it right on the head when you said your "family" does. I have a feeling that the article was written for the single crowd looking to impress others with their perfectly equipped kitchens.
