The studios releasing this must be sadists, because I think people might actually die of fright if they sit through this.
Never, he defines the trope!
This must be the ultimate Hollywood Studio travesty, especially considering the Lorax's message. A computer animated film like "9" would have done better, with the post-apocalyptic feel, not another loud and obnoxious toxic cartoon.

And many years ago, I wrote Pink Floyd's The Lorax, with "Truffula Tree in the Forest Part II":

"We don't need no humming chainsaws
We don't need no clear cut zones
No slash and burning in the forest
Once-ler leave them trees alone

Hey Once-ler, leave them trees alone
All in all, this Earth is also your home"

Criminally underdeveloped is right. She remains a cypher, just Walter's helpful assistant, but not much more.
They should throw an original and completely out there second coming event, something that completely subverts the usual Hal Lindsey nonsense of EU-UN-Illuminati-Catholic Church silliness.
Revolution?? Will everyone wear browns and beige, and other Earth tones like in Star Trek Insurrection?
Good point. While Tolkien completely rejects that his work is allegorical especially in the preface to the Ballantine edition where he provides interesting insight into how he would otherwise interpret the Cold War, his text has enough connotations and shadows of ideology to launch many a PhD dissertation.
That's his whole screen persona, pretentious jerk like the one he plays in appearances on the Daily Show. Although, I did find his appearance on BSG kind of jarring.
Lucas is a sicko! Ironically, Empire Strikes Back probably has the lowest body count of all the films.
Irony is that Empire Strikes Back probably has the least number of deaths!
And then in the next kid's flick, Anakin commits genocide.
Yeah, between Ummagumma and Atomic Heart Mother, but before Meddle.
Looks like it is going to be quite a bit more adult and darker than The Last Airbender. I just hope they keep the same humour and witty, good natured banter, as well the exploration of deep themes. I feel the real freshness of Avatar was the character development and the unique ethnocultural setting.
"They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown."

or

"some corner of another world that is forever mankind."

In our jingoist present, those words would be quite of place for their global vision no matter how beautiful.

Actually at the time, NASA's budget began a dramatic climb down, and lapsed below the 1962 level of funding by the time Nixon left office.
Check out Terry Jones' documentary series -- Medieval Lives, the Crusades, Barbarians -- all excellent and all quite provocative. Michael Palin of course is the warm friendly travel buddy in his manifold BBC travel series.
The Alpha and the Omega mutants are one of the creepiest creations in cinema history.
I feel a new take on Survivor in the making.
Finally, real dwarves. There should have been a racebending-type campaign against the other Snow White movie and all of Peter Jackson's LOTR films. Once Upon a Time also goes with tall actors instead of little people.
Hmm... Bjork is Snow White? She does come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
