@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: Heh I'm guilty of doin a Han. You're riding shotgun and the driver is about to shift it into drive. Punch it chewie! Ahah either they look at you weird or they gas it up :)
@davefromgp: She has a quiet demeanor and while the 'vacant stare' is there it tends to fall onto things of interest with extra intensity (that's a feature). She is cute times but this reduction of her other qualities is as unnecessary as this defence of her as an actor/actress.
Firefly, TSCC and Dollhouse are arguments in favour of writing for and casting Summer Glau.
The end.
If we can't agree on that then we disagree on the facts. In addition you may have to see a doctor because I see evidence that you may be allergic to Awesomeness.
@swampthing: I really enjoyed the PotE. The funny thing here is that after the fourth episode the over the top melodrama started to produce a smile and few jokes around our TV. I wondered if the pacing had something to with this.
I'm sure this will translate nicely into an absorbing alt-history mini series but how will they give it that unique pkd quality. This novel even more than his other novels has a machine like quality to it that gives you the impression that it was assembled like a watch rather than just being written.
I thought I had cracked some code when halfway through this book I said to myself, "I bet he used the IChing to write this book", and then forty pages later the Man in the High Castle makes a revelation to a character in the book that doesn't reveal the trick as much as it makes you wonder, why am I being entertained in a curious fashion.
I recommend this novel if you like being entertained in a curious fashion.
@Limeade: +1 The writers are using Tara to keep us grounded. Not everyone is a vampire, fairy or a shapechanger or remains untouched by trauma in this story.
Meredith breaks this show down into alternating pros and cons while she watches it but my claim is that almost every con turns into a pro given enough time; and this is because the writers behind TB are absolutely nailing exposition, setup, and payback time and time again.
An example for me is that Meredith's worst part of the this weeks show - the "most tedious vampire relationship talk ever" was easily my favourite part of this weeks show show. The longer Bill and Sookie talked the more obvious it became exactly what was coming. The anticipation generated was awesome and the timing ws perfect for the pay off when they run headlong into the Eric and Russel brickwall at fullspeed, brilliant. I loved the way the car tipped right up - upending the car and pouring out the dreams of a normal life for these two yet AGAIN :)
The technical drawing is exactly what hooked me about manga in the early 90's. I bought a few issues of Akira, Appleseed, and Naussica off a friend in my art class who was the only person into manga in my school. His only problem not being able to afford to keep buying ALL the manga he wanted. He basically sold me the sci-fi part of his collection which was fine by me. I tried also to buy Mai the Psychic girl but Mai was too cute for him to let go. Definitely my loss.
It wasn't easy collecting these rarely released editions but it was worth it.
The good thing about the scan scene is that more people will see these works.
