Also what do you really expect for under $500?
"I never said no Windows laptops have good build quality, nor did I claim Apple products are flawless. Common straw man fallacy. I'm aware Lenovo laptops have great build quality, but if you're being disingenuous if you ignore the fact that literally 99% of Windows laptops don't."
Lenovo makes a huge chunk of Windows laptops. They are greater than 1% of laptops. More like 13% of the laptops out there. You say that 99% of laptops don't have good build quality. Where did you get your 99% figure from? Obviously you haven't tried 99% of the laptops out there, have you?
"The point is that if you look at articles like these (e.g. "best laptops under _____," "cheapest gaming laptops," "best value laptops"), the important factor of build quality is never taken into account at all. Finding out whether any of these laptops has decent build quality (and therefore is worth buying) is tedious, which is why the OP said that the experience of buying Windows PCs is "horrible."
Most articles here on Gizmodo and other sites take build quality into factoring. I don't know why you have missed that because I never miss when they mention them. If you want to check out build quality you just go to the store and check them out in person.
"On the other hand, you can bet that any Mac you buy will have top-notch build quality. That doesn't mean great build quality is exclusive to Apple; I'm sure there are one or two Dell and HP laptops that are built well. And maybe the majority of Lenovo laptops have great build quality. But I don't see how any of this refutes the original point that buying Windows computers is ridiculously troublesome compared to buying Macs."
Again, you go the store and check them out in person. I know Lenovo makes solid machines because I go to the store and physically play with them. Who buys a PC site unseen? That is a pretty big gamble IMO. Apple - Top build quality. Dell - shit.
