This film is its OWN worst enemy. Obviously there were some cool parts. The cerebro portion being one of them, but overall it reminded me of Spiderman 3 in that it was crammed with stuff. Im specifically referring to the last 30 minutes or so. If this movie was the ONLY prequel to the first X-men movie then great, it did the job of bridging well, but we all know it will be one in 3 prequels minimum, (thats how it works now) and we've all read the ad-nauseum producer comparisons to the dark knight. Which means if its one in 3 or 4 or 5, it blew its whole load already! We should have seen erik and charles slowly become at odds over the course of all the "sequel prequels". And mystique slowly moving towards erik. Not so rammed in that charles basically TELLS her to go be evil. Not to mention the cripple scene, where it just happens. We all heard saw charles vs erik on murder, but there was no real charles vs erik on mutants in the world. I mean, his antagonist was a mutant! But there is no explanation of how we went from hunting shaw to wanting to rule over humans. THAT is the kind of thing that takes over than a few final scenes. And for those who go on about how this movie should be reviewed on its own merits, they prove they dont want you to do that, as it has more in-jokes, references, and easter eggs to previous films than any other sequel or prequel since star wars.
action comics just hit 901 but there going to restart it before it hits 1000? that seems unlikely. Plus all these kinds of changes just end up being undone over time. Just ask blue energy superman.
