@wayward.squanderer: I came here to say just this. I'm sure my love of ridiculous metal music can be traced back to this exact song. Also the black lab cover is weak sauce. You shouldn't touch the classics.
I thought it was a great episode. Matt Smith didn't grate the way I feared he might and I actually took to him almost straight away. I thought Karen Gillan was also superb I'm glad there is still some Scottish influence in there!) I think Matt and Karen look like they will have good on screen chemistry. I'm really happy and can't wait for the rest of the series now!
Agreed with the general conclusion that this looks horrendous. The combination "romance" and "comedy" already had alarm bells ringing. Having watched the above trailer I think it's safe to say I won't be going near this with a badly filtered barge pole.
How about not remaking or adapting anything and instead coming up with an original screenplay?
Having said that the suggestions made here are much better than some of the dross which is already potentially in the pipeline.
I have just come back from the cinema to watch this and was underwhelmed by the visuals. Nothing truly original just a mash of various things from other places. I thought the strength of Burton would be that he would give a unique look to "wonderland".
I also felt there was an utter lack of dramatic tension, I didn't fear for the hatters safety when he was captured. The final battle was a waste of time because we had been told that Alice would prevail throughout the whole movie. Add in some pointless characters (the dogs?!) and it comes across as a hollow experience.
The problem is that even if they could turn back time and have all the cast in their prime I would still fear a disappointment. I'm still not over the pain of Transformers.
Having said that if they end the movie with the day saved and Venkman saying goodbye and passing over to the other side there is a strong chance I will blub like a little girl..
