this was a very interesting read. and I too am keeping an eye on developments in Masdar. however when I saw the promotional video, as cool as it is, I kept waiting for the announcer to say "brought to you by Umbrella corporation."
@Smeagol92055: "What I can't believe is that the author so sold out that he wrote a companion book to the film, ignoring the rules and storylines he had already set down as cannon. The guy's gone from zero to George Lucas in just a couple of years." there is a companion book that follows the brit kid, but the actual jumper 2 book followed the plot of the first book, not the movie.
well crap... make mine DC, I guess.
@joechiappetta: or maybe just a "System Identification Number"? hell, I'll have to move out of Elfland soon :)
I am so gonna be there... wooo first year to comic con!
@BerdineMelanthus: I agree, thats what I always saw in my head, done like a serious documentary with interviews (cheap to do) and occasionally file footage like news/personal cameras etc. inter-spersed just like in the book.

actually, I think a rather slavish adaptation would be wonderful. What's Zack Snyder up to these days?

that cyclops pic is fucking fantastic!
if I could muster the motivation, I would totally make a "stranger" costume to represent the guild of calamitous intent!
@L3G10N: why do people keep saying they made an xmen 3? I never heard of it :P

it's like that old rumour about a second highlander movie.

@Charlie Jane Anders: this was my opinion of watchmen as well. stuff I really liked and stuff I really didn't.

if wolverine is even a little bit "better" in any way opening night will be money well spent for me.

I think the viewpoint of sci-fi as modern myth is valid, as is the opinion that religions are Mythologies as well.

I have to say, personally, I like em all. I love reading mythology, and as someone who read compulsively as a child and now an adult, I take from it whatever I can.

the mythologies of the world, and the mythologies of Star Wars, The X-Men, Batman, and the crew of Serenity, etc. can all pass on lessons that a person can use in shaping their worldview.

that said, I count myself among those who have no need of the "other" aspects of organised religious belief.

*phew* sorry for the ramble. :)

@twDarkflame: CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!
@corpore-metal: in that case he should be hired immediately to write for the show :)
my common sense is tingling...
I for one, welcome our new Obama overlord.
@Aidan_: I've been looking up local classes for mandarin for this exact reason...

Ni Hao mutha----er's!

another Co* player here, I played for about a month when it first came out, but then a month ago I decided to re-up on a whim, and it's been great.

@epoch9 if any IO9ers are on Triumph

@Ddoom: oh god yes!

while I normally take the "crap, until proven otherwise" stance on movies like this. I have been such a diehard battletech/mechwarrior fan that if this was announced, I would go see it 8 times no matter how bad, just so that they could make money and make a whole series Quiaff?.

hell, they could just make the Blood of Kerensky trilogy, and I'd be happy!

@dOk: is there a link to this!?
