Agreed. I watch these movies for the Michael Bay moneyshots, not for Sam Witwicky's character development.
Well the escape pod seems like a no-brainer = toys! I think they went with a more amorphous parallax to make it less comical. Sure some of the corp aliens look kinda silly, but this? This doesn't inspire fear...it inspires giggles.

Where's my crowbar....
This is why it is our duty in life to get everyone we know to watch (or at least DVR) the show so it stays on.
An elementary school student can find PI by simple division. A middle school student can find a better approximation of PI with basic geometry. Peter Parker is a SCIENTIST, and I think with a little practice, testing, and research he could make a pretty sweet costume. Ever been to a con? Plenty of nerdy high schoolers making sweet costumes.
So being bitten by a radioactive spider gives you an advanced knowledge of chemistry and impart a secret never-before-seen formula but it can't teach you how to weave or sew?
Holes on the finger pads show a level of detail I didn't think they'd put into this. I personally can't see why everyone thinks the suit is unrealistic. If the guy is smart enough to make those web shooters and to brew his own webbing, he can probably handle making a suit. He's SPIDER-man. Spiders are nature's seamstresses. I'll grant that working with textiles is tough but let's give the guy some credit...
So the suit is unrealistic but the super high tech webbing he brews up and the shooters he makes aren't? Working in textiles is tough, but Peter Parker was a one smart dude
I'll be honest, I had <0% desire to see this movie but after this review I might just have to drag my English Major girlfriend kicking and screaming to see it.
Actually the guy who ran in is the giant homophobe who wasn't allowed to play on the football team unless he sang with the glee club. It was the coach's/teacher's attempt to give the insolent prick some perspective.
So.....I guess that means Jetfire is in the movie? Cool beans.
I'd explain what they are, but I don't want to get removed from io9! Here's a hint, it rhymes with my favorite hockey player's name, Rick "Pucking" Hips....
As a 20-something, recent college grad, I think I can shed light on this subject. While I am an avid 3rd and 3.5 edition D&D player (and secretly 4th addition, but don't tell my friends!), I learned playing D&D with a guy who ran a 2nd edition campaign. He was in his early 30s and was a teacher at my high school so he ran games after class. While I personally hate 2nd edition, I know that some of the people I played at that table with continue to play it to this day. Also, many of the classic RPG games are all 2nd edition based (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc). While I agree that they probably should have used a newer version, they couldn't have done 4th edition without a battle map and miniatures. Since they weren't getting too into the mechanics and had to go with an older addition, why not go 2nd edition?

In all honesty, I bet the decision to go 2nd edition had to do with the availability of prop books.
You can still make it to Jedi Knight if you are ok murdering an entire planet? I wonder what Old Ben would have to say about THAT.
"So we're bringing this robot with us."
"Oh yeah? What does it do?"
"Well, it has two settings: Friendly and Murdersauce"
"Murdersauce? Don't you think it is a little silly to take a highly advanced AI system capable of killing us all in this little spaceship to Mars with us?"
"Nah, don't worry about it! I have it switched to Friendly. What could possibly go wrong?"

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stealth (the movie) levels of stupid.
To answer the Pon Farr question: Yes, Vulcans can still get it up/on when not in Pon Farr, it is just more awkward and logical when they do so.
Agreed. #4 looks like the underside of a Trade Federation ship and #5 could be on Naboo or even Dantooine
A beautiful (if not legal) mix of engineering and art. I bet his kitchen automatically makes him breakfast, too. Is this what Wayne Szalinski used to do when he was a teenage malcontent?
@ThisDudeRufus: I've had the good fortune to meet him twice. He is always curiously well dressed in a very casual sort of way (at least when i met him)
While I agree with GDT's assessment of the 6-limbed flying creatures, when you put dragons next to pegasuses (pegasi?), sphinxes, chimeras, angels, and some depictions of harpeys, they fit in much more.
