There has got to be at least one scifi novel with this as its cover art.
@KnaveOfDiamonds: Actually, I took the extra photons. They're in my safe deposit box downtown.
@Seamus McClernan: Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... long, for any more thype at all.
@KaneBaker: Well I didn't want to spoil it for everyone but they do end up teaming up, Sharktopus taking out oil rigs with its tentacles and Tarwhal satisfying its oil-addiction before leading its ally to their next victim (Tarwhal's are far more intelligent than Sharktopi and are thus better at tracking down oil rigs).
We need to create some sort of hybrid creature to eat the oil more quickly than the bacteria. Like a baleen whale that sifts tar instead of krill. We can call it the Tarwhal and then have it fight Sharktopus.
@Razoky: Vacate the premises!
Let's give one person all of these, plus a strong dose of gamma rays, and see what happens.
I know I'm always the one to mention it, but the Longest Journey games are specifically based around a universe split into two: one of magic and another of science.
@Gimmi Mørgäikkönën: My personal favorite piece of ancient tech.
I like Josh Hutcherson, but I think his square-jaw might be better for some other comic book character, Andrew Garfield looks closer to how I think Pete's supposed to look.
Though of course this article is slightly mistaken, you shouldn't put something that is clearly a spoiler in the title, the day after the finale. You kind of messed up my viewing experience.
I'm still waiting for Indy to lose his eye.

@Go for Papa Palpatine: I figured she's just a Lost fangirl. You've always got to have that one character who knows it's a tv show. Though I think Desmond does as well so now we have two.
This is what happened after they left Jurassic Park, turns out all those dinosaurs really were just animatronic.
Mars? James Cameron? Titanic? Thank you, io9, you've finally legitimized the "Oops!...I Did It Again" video. You just made it canon.
I love the concept of the Thing creature so much. I really do want to see it in a new environment (though the trick of preventing it from destroying everything becomes much harder).
I'd love to see an even more literal live action version of some of these, there's just something about the style. If not that, then the animated equivalent.
The Fountain is a beautiful film about death. It took me more than one viewing to really appreciate it, but if this is anything like that I'd enjoy it.
@Cory Gross: Please do. I'll read it.
