Sorry, my audio recording situation isn't the best at the moment. I forgot to double the Lavalier mic input to stereo once it was in iMovie. Thanks for the comments!
Sweet, I'm glad it was helpful. It's a perfect solution for an old machine because it's easy on the CPU and will work with just about any old webcam. A few USB extension cables and you've got yourself a security system!
I did jump the gun a bit on that one. I spoke to the kind folks at DSLR.bot and they told me that their next version, v3, supports Nikon and should arrive on the App Store soon.
How to change your iTunes backup locations (iPhone and iPad) to another drive or spot on your machine. Super useful if you're running out of space because you've got a ton of backups.
Ok, This is a total crap lightsaber vid. I made it back in '03 as a test to see if I could rotoscope a lightsaber. It turns out that I could, but I couldn't not be a huge dork in the process. I did one other video that was a brief two person battle not starring me that had a saber going through someone's chest, but I can't find it right now.
Some things to note and laugh about: Doc Martens, does anyone still wear these? I have sleep in my eye, lol Notice the bad cut near the end? I think I thought I looked dumb whatever move I was doing, should have cut the whole thing out if that's the case! The shot of my feet was intended to 'show motion' and give it 'energy'. Anyhow, it's completely lame but someone might get a kick out of it. This vid was made POST Star Wars Kid! Yet I still made it. I was smart enough not to share it on the internet though... until now, but I'm old and I don't give a crap what people think about me any more.
I believe this was shot on a high-end (for the time) Sony MiniDV camcorder that I borrowed from work. I probably still have the raw footage. I can't remember what I rotoscoped in but probably premiere.
The saber is a custom made job that I bought on the interwebs somewhere, can't remember the shop. The blade is polycarb, totally rugged and usable for 'battles' and lights up green.
I went on a local morning show to talk about smartphones and demoed the AR. Drone live on air. I used the DisplayOut Jailbreak app to output the live HUD view of the drone right into the shows main board, taking over the broadcast view.
I think it turned out pretty cool, especially considering that I had only had about 10 min flight time on the Drone beforehand to learn!
@kellanpan: Nice, loved my old Juice Pack. I'm getting one of the Casemate FuelLite cases to review or I'd snap one of these up. Maybe i'll hit Mophie up and do a dual test.
@Nick Denton: I do like the new layouts, quite a lot actually and I appreciate the reasoning on featuring articles. As a writer who runs my own site ( [www.theiphoneguru.net] )I struggle with how to balance traffic and SEO with featuring articles that I'm passionate about.
I think the new design strikes a nice compromise between the increasingly frenetic and commercial nature of modern blogs and the headlines style stories that encourages focus on the good chewy stuff.
As a side note, I don't know if it's been intentional but this is the version of the site I get on my iPhone and sometimes my iPad. I thought it was a new mobile theme until I saw this thread actually. Just a heads up as I'm sure it's not complete and this may be purely 'working bug' related, the linking is completely broken for that theme on mobile devices, when I tap on an article it just refers back to the homepage.
You're 100% fine to stand it on it's side as long as the vent is clear. The only moving bits inside are in the hard disk used to store DVR recordings and HD's are fine on their sides. Just don't wobble it while in use, you should be good ;)
