@laughingacademy: You can alwats break out of that loop with "Fear is the mind Killer..." ;)
Why not? I'm 31 year old guy, in Toronto. I like comics, music, art, speculative fiction, history and a great boatload of stuff which enumerating would ennumb you. I write in my spare time, need to do more of that.

Penpals (real mail) would be awesome. But meeting folks regardless would be interesting.

@MrGOH: Fair enough. I guess thats more an issue of semantics really, as the events in Deepness definitely inform the character in A Fire up on the Deep. By me, changed the way in which Pham's actions are cast.

On the whole, temporality within sci-fi novels is largely inconsequential.
Isn't "A Deepness in the Sky" the sequel?
I had NO idea that Bicentennial Man was considered a bad movie, let alone a disaster.

The more you know.
@Casimiro De Almeida Barreto: Ah! Here I was wondering if the intake of Mercury as depicted in Stevenson's Quicksilver was accurate.. and I think you've just answered that question.
@Morgan Weinert: Behind every awesome tattoo lies an even better story.
@Klebert L. Hall: Wouldn't it make the most economy of space though?

Sure the barges have limited housing capacity, but do *you* want to be the man at the dock saying "Sorry, we're all full. Now go get your brains eaten".

Also: Zombie Apocalypse and you're concerned that comfort levels will decrease?

Good point on the push-boat though.
@LovelyHue: I literally JUST finished Starship Troopers (for the 3rd or 4th time over the years) yesterday and have absolutely no idea what situation you are referring to.
@Zazu_Yen: Context = "but they've never stayed up until sunrise roll playing"

I *have* on many occasions stayed up till sunrise role-playing. As well as number of other activities which you voluminously listed.

See? I was just being a dick! ;)
@Zazu_Yen: A joke is different than an opinion.

Did I criticize you? If so, I apologize. Not my intent, solely meant as a play on words.

Regardless, have you tried living in a glass house? you haven't made love until you've hit against the glass.
@CubemonkeyNYC: That was out of context, to wit:

You said "if you can't take a joke, you're just as bad as they are. " and that is what I replied to.

Comment stands; though I do apologize for providing proper context for my snarky, hopefully mildly offensive comment.

Cheers
@Clashwerk: Hear here! I totally agree, and that in my opinion is where the main similarity between geeks and hipsters lie.

It's the obsessiveness and possessiveness of an idea.

Geek: "Pssh, I liked Linux before it became famous"

Hipster: "Pssh I liked x-band before they were famous"

No difference. If something is good and suits your needs, what the dickens does it matter the reasons behinds your choice?

Homogeneous self-identified groups are all alike in this manner (geek/hipster/goth/punk).

Pathetic clique fetishism, nothing more.
@CubemonkeyNYC: If you condescend, you are as well!
@Zazu_Yen: Dude, how do you roll play? Like to the outside? Man you must have wanted to be the next Joe Montana so hard.

All that other crap must have got in the way of your NFL dreams.
@Samuel James Reha: Well that whole ethos would go again anything Jobs related.
@ossuary: Yeah the MKV situation on the PS3 is a little disheartening. But there has yet to be a major player using it, which explains the lack of support.

But I think its the best new (to me) multimedia file formats out there
@MsFeasance: NEERRDDD!! ;)
Nice catch.
@zeusrex: Never disagreed with your main point. I was being a pointless nitpicker over an internet comment. My bad.
