Honestly, I found Altered Carbon to a be a turgid, unappetizing mess. Kovacs is an entirely unlikable protagonist who I sincerely hoped would die by the end of the book, but I had to put it down 5/6th of the way through due to just not giving a fuck about the main character or plot. Zero stars out of five.
Seriously? I found Altered Carbon to be a turgid, unappetizing mess. I had to put it down five-sixths of the way through -- I honestly disliked the main character enough by that point to hope it ended with his death, but I didn't want to slog through another forty pages to find out.
They also have the most interesting depictions of Cain and Abel I've ever seen. They're both used a lot in Foundation fiction. This is honestly one of my favorite websites around.
@Bigdamnhero: Actually, I liked our shadowy alien for the look at Russian Fringe science, as well as the whole "left hand knows not" thing with the CIA and FBI working against each other. I hope we see more Russians soon. #fringe
Was anyone else seriously blown away by the upgraded CGI? I'm talking about the shiny new Ha'tak (pyramid-ships), the Hammond, and the planet going kaboom.
Also, I kind of liked that bit where Rush surveys the scene - he's thinking, "people are dying, yeah, yeah, but I finally figured it out! HA HA HA HAAAA."
I think that this is the first TV show to actually portray a sucking chest wound properly. I hate it when somebody gets shot in the shoulder on TV and keeps on going, there are so many major nerve clusters there.
Also, I thought that Summer getting into the same showdown as in the pilot episode of Firefly was great.
An SD card might survive fresh water, but if you're scuba diving and your camera floods (it's happened to me, with film not digital) I bet salt water would be pretty bad, especially if the camera's still running.
