@AmendmentForOne: I deplore conclusions on climate derived from local weather. While I enjoy a bit the delicious irony of such inclement and cold weather, I find using it as proof of anything on a grand scale as annoying as all the complaints about summer in New York last year proving AGW. I base my conclusion on the fact that many of the leading figures in the supposedly settled science behind AGW have been caught fudging numbers and suppressing dissent. Not to mention the previously highly respected IPCC coming to conclusions and creating reports (which by the way affect government policy and end up costing people time and money) from anecdotal evidence derived from a popular level mountain climbing magazine.
Back in the 20s, locals from the place I grew up had ferries that worked a bit like that to cross a shallow bay. You drove your car up on it, strapped it down, and your wheels spinning against a another wheel and gear spun the rotor. This system must have sucked because they quickly built a train and car bridge.
AGW is quickly becoming a desperate canard to preserve the power, influence, and commercial viability of the green movement.
