Just what I was thinking. Style points for not mentioning the source.
Nice Windup Girl reference. I salute you.
I think I see where the confusion comes from.

The cells that this makes are 6" or so square and are assembled into modules (aka panels) that contain about a hundred cells.
Does this remind anyone of Brian Aldiss' "Hothouse"?

Billions of years in the future, the earth has stopped rotating and an entire continent is covered by a single Banyan. A weird and great book.

Arboreal Overlords indeed - singular.
Warning: opinion follows.

Motion blur is critical to exciting motorsports pics. These are good, but too static.

This pic that I took from the stands at the SF round a couple of years ago makes my point.

According to my rough calculations, the eclipsed moon was only 1/4000th as bright as the full moon.

Honestly, the BMW320d wagon is all you need. I rented one for a couple of weeks earlier this year in the UK and it was brilliant.

Plenty of grunt for B-road passing and economy in the mid-40s (US gallons).
1975: $70 per watt
2010: 70 cents per watt

That's progress.

(note: those are utility-scale prices at the module level.)
@Ninety-9: Hang on there. There's plenty of data now that indicates 20-year old panels are still at 80% of their initial output. That's pretty good.

Also, 20% is at the high end for terrestrial cells.
@99TelepodProblems: You know, I would have thought that variations on this joke would have worn thin by now.

Nope. Still funny. Thankyou.
@Smeagol92055: Brilliant. Well done that mutated hobbit.
