the reality is much simple. the director failed to sell the idea to the larger and more important audience, for them, the movie just doesn't look... "serious" it looks super silly, cheesy and stupid. (that's the point? really? there is no disclaimer in the poster) instead the director choose to please the comic book freaks (also failed)
the right choice? director. casting. fucking costumes. marketing. (lol posters) action. makeup. acting . mood.
all of that? it needs to be better, not true to the book, just better.
