The "Hive mind" trope reminded me of the episode of Dollhouse, where Enver Gjokaj's character is released only to become a modified Universal Soldier with swarming voices in his head.
Should have seen the Nina-Shifter coming. Also, where is Nina shopping for these outfits? Spectacular!
So we never got to see if Alt-Broyles managed to inject "Our Lincoln" with the sinister yellow fluid. I spent the rest of the episode trying to figure out if Lincoln had become a shapeshifter too.
So why didn't the vampire caught on tape just glamour his assailants and destroy their? From that scene you'd think vampires have no recourse... Speaking of, couldn't Pam just as easily overpowered and glamoured Tara and make all three squawk about what they know? Franklin would have done exactly this, Russell would have munched it out of their minds. Not that I'm so concerned about everyone's favourite Viking, I think he got off easy--from the witches-- considering.
Also, I am liking King Bill, he is fun and evil with the burden of "Suh-keh!"
Valid points-- the one that stuck out most for me was Olivia's "The man who's gonna kill me." That went out of the window didn't it? Unless of course there will be surprises for next season. Didn't care for the treatment of "First People" or "Sam Weiss" for that matter. They have a whole new season to unravel these elements, why settle for unsatisfactory wrap ups?
I might have to watch that again to absorb all the time travel plot points-- I was so nervous that I actually couldn't grasp... In other news, I'm impressed how John Noble's 'Lord of the Rings' role keeps haunting this one: the weird son/daddy issues, world collapsing, viking funeral --and best of all Brad Dourif a/k/a Grima Wormtongue.
Also--it will be interesting to see how they incorporate Peter back into the flow next season. And all those doubles in the room-- can't remember what they were fighting about (since there was no Peter to begin with), but hate each other's guts to begin with? That's some comedy right there.
I just watched that based on your recommendation, thank you! Brilliant film! Ace writing and terrific performances— I'm sorry I ever underestimated Ryan Reynold's powers, and Hope Davis continues to stun.
Succinct recap, Charlie Jane-- this is clearly now the Walter Bishop show! I remember the first time I sighted John Noble in Lord of the Rings, the movie was over for me once he mounted his funeral pyre. Interesting how Noble's (mainstream) career is defined by playing the flawed father. He's the deluxe Clown Prince who grew int King Lear-ship...
The plot line for this Valentine's edition seemed purposefully transparent, though I did enjoy the Tom Stoppard nods. Curiously enough, I was expecting some 'Rosemary's Baby' references, but how much is too much in the salad?
The instant Brooklyn-Boston connections are bugging me too. Unless of course they're being helicoptered in. In that case, show us a damn heliport for that to register.
Also: what happened to Peter the Weapon? I was just starting to like him.
