I think superhero stories can have "weight" without being "heavy". Aside from other things, FF (1&2) was terribly miscast...Ioan Gruffuld, Jessica Alba and Julian McMahon were all wrong...The casting of Ed Norton in Hulk and Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man was great casting that gave those movies a bit more depth without making them too heavy.
