HMMMMMMM.....
I agree. Not even a spoonful of whisky would help that and I'm not even in politics. I hate office politics and I couldn't imagine working with the glorified office politics that is the government.
This post though wasn't helpful, just negative and with 'advice' that has been heard before.
Jesus Luz's scared the beejesus out of me.
makes me a tiny bit sad for the lonely child she must have been.
It's a fleeting feeling though, I'm back to shaking my head at her choice of wardrobe.
Just be safe and exercise the same caution as you would anywhere and you should be fine. I went to St. Martin for my honeymoon and stayed on the west side - far away from the tourist area of Orient Bay - where a lot of the locals live, so I suppose we went a little authentic (but I like that feel and hate feeling or looking like a tourist) and we were fine. We were just careful and everything worked out for the best.
You'll be fine. Take the trip and tell us all about it when you get back (I need to live vicariously through someone).
By the way, congrats!
I agree that Genovese is used as the prime example of the Bystander Effect and used as a hyperbole but it still a very real thing (which I don't think you're refuting). I think what Hamilton was saying that standing around not doing anything is an example of the bystander effect and Genovese is just the most famous example of that.
Even with people gawking, it bugs that shit out of me that not one of them tried to intervene or call someone with authority to intervene. Even under Good Samaritan Laws, the least you can do in NYC/New York State without being sued is calling the cops.
