I saw this shot and I KNEW I had to use it. :D
That video is one of my favorite things, ever.
You're shoehorning your preferred solution into someone else's problem. Sure it might work, sure it might be better if this were your setup, and sure, you should definitely do it your way if you're inspired by the piece, but so does this, and for them, it works better.
It was this very situation that made me want to write this article. Without getting too personal here, I know what you're going through, and have/am watching people close to me die because they have an irrational fear of or mistrust of doctors because they read an article here or there, or just believe they're all part of some medical complex that's out to empty their wallets.

I try to explain that they just need to find a doctor they can trust, put in some effort to building a relationship instead of making sweeping generalizations about all doctors in all cases. It's maddening.

Let me know how it works for you!
Yeah, noted in the article.

For me personally, Dropbox is the way to go. I use it for this same purpose all the time - quick file transfers between my phone and my computer. That said, this is definitely for the person who a: doesn't want anything to do with a 3rd party service, and b: wants to completely manage their files/folders on their Android phone from their computer, or drop files in different folders on their phone, neither of which Dropbox lets us do.

Allow me to help you get started! :)
That's awesome - it sounds like you have a really great relationship with your GP. :) We should all be so lucky. Thanks for sharing this!
If you didn't already have a star, this would deserve to be promoted. Good suggestions!
Yes, someone already made that joke.
Sure. There are lots of things he *could* do. He chose to do this. Why not hop over to Instructables and ask him yourself? #tldr
And this can also do a lot more than transfer files, if you read above. This app actually turns your phone into an FTP platform - which is something AirDroid can't say it does. By doing so, Software Data Cable makes your device broadly accessible, and completely accessible - all files and folders, and gives you complete management from your desktop, regardless of OS or platform, without additional software.

Point taken through, there are other apps that do similar things. Options are good.

Assuming by "different times" he only means "two different dimes over the course of a week." What if it's three? Or she gets up different times *every* day?

I think it's best to take the statement at face value instead of trying to shoehorn a solution that may not work for him into his situation or disprove his statement simply because there are other, easier options available. He said a coffee machine with a timer wouldn't work for him, so it won't. #tldr

maybe I need to put this in bold or something in the article: "Instructables user biochemtronics built this remote controlled coffee machine for his wife, whose machine broke, likes her coffee freshly brewed, and gets up at different times on different mornings, so a new machine with a timer wouldn't do."
I like the way you think - fresh water, auto-filling and stopping when it needs to. I dig.
Read the article next time. Specifically the part where a machine with a timer wouldn't work.
"...for his wife, whose machine broke, likes her coffee freshly brewed, and gets up at different times on different mornings, so a new machine with a timer wouldn't do."
