@drummrx: Balok's alter-ego. He called it "Mr. Hyde to my Jekyll." The episode was "The Corbomite Maneuver"
@avidreader514: So, did Marvel or Whedon rip of Sky Captain, or did Sky Captain rip off someone else.

(Keeping in mind that there are really no completely new ideas; people borrow and steal ideas all the time. The originality comes from combining old ideas in ways nobody has thought of yet.)
@kbknigon001: If only for his theme song, I loved Cool McCool!
"Obviously, lightning didn't help create life on Venus."

And that is obvious because...?
@Mathmos: But that is a story for which the world is not yet prepared.
@Red_Flag: I use my ScanSnap scanner with Evernote. Set up a profile that sends scans directly to Evernote as a new item. Works great for things like newspaper and magazine clippings (especially older ones that aren't available online).
In other words, put the ONE THING you want your reader to get out of your message at the very top of your message, and write it as concisely as possible.

This is an old idea, but putting it in terms of "tweetifying" it gives people an understandable concept to associate with it.
@Mark Butt: That's as sound as the "rule" that you should never end a sentence with a preposition.
@Mihnea Dumitru: I'm pretty sure Clarke wrote a short story involving this idea. "Out of the Sun" perhaps?
@basegabriel: Ah, yes! The Discovery that Changed the World.
@neoliminal: The thing that matters with abrasives is where it is on a scale of hardness. Rock salt is 2 on the Mohs scale (same as a fingernail) and ceramic tile is 7.

Ergo, salt will not scratch porcelain.
I throw all the interesting quotes I run across into Evernote. Can anyone convince me that I need a separate app for just quotes?
@thinkerer: I didn't hear Dorsey saying that drawing ideas is new or inventive.

He's just saying that it works, and encouraging more people to try it.

Simple? Yeah, pen and paper sketches and doodles are simple. But the simple stuff often gets overlooked.
What about the idea of siphoning energy from an alternate universe, as in The Gods Themselves, by Isaac Asimov?
@kftgr: Try calling some local nurseries or greenhouses. It's pretty easy to find. If you like online shopping, Amazon has it. Just search in the Home & Garden section for "diatomaceous earth."
Sorry, but I was underwhelmed by the "melodies" that it generated.
Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a mechanical pesticide. In short, when insects come in contact with DE, it breaks the waxy coating on their exoskeletons, and then they die of dehydration.
@Roy Jacobsen: Crap. How do you do blockquotes on Gawker sites?
@CoffinDodger (If the typos crap. Blame my keyboard): Looks like the actions been up'ed and I dont give a frag if theres Mickey Rourke in this with his over the top rubber face. He gained massive respect from me in Sin City and The Wrestler. That dude is awesome and will only add to the coolness that is Iron Man 2. Don't forget his stellar turn as Darius Sayle in Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker.
