<![CDATA[Comments from samuelk]]> <![CDATA[Comments from samuelk]]> <![CDATA[samuelk commented on Mio's Knight Rider GPS Test Drive Video]]> Upon reading the specs, I guess it actually IS William Daniels...the voice just sounds a bit too deep; maybe because he's aged a bit.

]]>
<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Mio's Knight Rider GPS Test Drive Video]]> That's a pretty close sound-alike for the voice, but just off enough that it's corny. Still, it's one of the more logical uses for a pop culture television icon.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Science Team Explains Why Mentos + Coke = Whoosh!]]> Yeah, Mythbusters did an episode on this, and they figured that not only did the roughness of the surface of the Mentos candy promote rapid nucleation, but the ingredients of the soda was also a factor. Aspartame and other ingredients cause similar reactions by themselves, but a cobination of many ingredients make the huge fountains of foam we see on YouTube.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Transformers 2 Robot Roll Call, With First Pics Of Jetfire]]> I would assume that "Revenge of the Fallen" simply refers to the fallen robots from the first film, namely Megatron.

Pulling the Primus history out of nowhere may be a bit much for non-Transformers fans.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Caption Contest: Steve Ballmer's Whiteboard From All Things Digital]]> The next version of Microsoft's Windows platform will feature a new type of file system security called Balmercryption. Ballmercrypted files will appear to unauthorized users as unintelligible scribble. Seen here is a Ballmercrypted Excel Spredsheet.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Watch Eliza Dushku Awaken To A New Identity]]> I expect a future FOX promo for this show to carry the following tagline:

"Cancelling in 2009"

]]>
<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Xbox 360 Spring Update Bringing 80 New Functions?]]> I'd have to call "fake" on this list. It looks too good to be true. Also, I think this is a really good indicator that it's fake:

"4. Copy non-protected files (pictures, music, videos) from USB storage devices, CDs and computers to proprietary storage devices."

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Wiis Today at Toys R Us!]]> My wife and I picked up a Wii at Gamestop yesterday. We had been talking about getting one for a couple of weeks, but weren't actively looking. I just happened to call Gamestop while we were nearby, and they had them in stock. No waiting for the win.

What does Spock have to do with an Alannah Myles song? Well, I guess he does have an instrument. . . and also a weird harp thing.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on The Inspirational Powers of Battlestar Galactica, Revealed]]> Why is everyone ruling out Cally? Just because we haven't seen her wake up dazed and confused in a giant vat of Cylon amnio-snot doesn't mean she won't. :)

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on It's X -- In Space!]]> But apparently, I *do* find it hard to properly format my posts. :(

]]>
<![CDATA[samuelk commented on It's X -- In Space!]]> This is kind of ridiculous. The article goes a bit overboard in using the "X...in space" classification, especially with the [i]Enemy Mine[/i] reference.

I could literally take any movie that features space travel and make it sound like a bad "X...in space!" film.

[i]Apollo 13[/i]: MacGuyver...in Space!

[i]Star Wars[/i]: World War I...In Space!

[i]Star Trek[/i]: Wagon Train...in Space!

[i]2001: A Space Odessy[/i] The Shining...In Space!

See, it's really not that hard.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Monkeys In Wormholes Are Automatically Funny]]> For me, it would have been funnier if the monkeys were more realistic.

Kind of more like a Lancelot Link in Space. Now THAT would be funny.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Company Dares Giz to Try Beamz Laser System Risking Editor's Life, Soul]]> @Gofastmazda:

Probably because the company stands behind its product and believes in it.

I'm not saying it's a great product -- I agree that it's really nothing more than a gimmicky toy -- but what's wrong with a company showing that they stand behind their gimmicky toy?

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on A Spaceship On Fire Off The Shoulder Of Orion]]> By the way, you're not suggesting that the planet in the background is Orion, are you? I'm pretty sure that "the shoulder of Orion" is a reference to the *constellation* of Orion.

I'm such a nerd.

]]>
<![CDATA[samuelk commented on A Spaceship On Fire Off The Shoulder Of Orion]]> Man, that's an old painting.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Physicists Say Lost Features Realistic Time Travel]]> Is anyone else getting the feeling that Desmond is the main character of LOST?

Something about his storyline is telling me that the show is more about him than any of the other characters.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on The Man Who Wrote Comic Books In KISS Blood]]> I've seen the comic in person; a friend of mine had an original, and sure enough, the pictures and notarized statement are reproduced in the middle of the comic, as is -- if I remember correctly -- a page about donating blood.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Believe It Or Not, "Greatest American Hero" Is A Movie]]> No Robert Culp = No good movie.
The lead role could probably be successfully recast without too much trouble, but without Culp...I dunno...they had better do some brilliant casting.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Belvedere Automated File Manager Gets New Features, New Look]]> There's a pretty simple fix you can use to get Belvedere to work. When you run the executable, a new folder is created called "resources" in the same folder where you ran it. Rename the folder to "includes", and it should work.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Which Dead Sci Fi Show Should Breathe Again?]]> "I've heard--from Mike & Joel, so I assume there's something to it--that MST3K might be making a return."

Regarding MST3K, there are 3 official offspring of MST3K that are in the works right now:

- Rifftrax, a venture headed by Mike Nelson allowing users to purchase MP3 audio tracks of Mike and special guests riffing current movies -- watch the movie and play the mp3 along with it

- MST3K.com - some weird relaunching of the MST3K name from Jim Mallon and other Best Brains allumni. Currently features strange flash cartoons of the robots.

- Cinematic Titanic - probably the most interesting and newest version, it's a new company started by Joel Hodgson, and features much of the original MST3K gang, including Mary Jo Pehl, Josh Weinstein, and Trace Beaulieu. Their first movie, The Oozing Skull, is available on DVD now.

<![CDATA[samuelk commented on Make Grooming Greener and Cheaper with Wet Shaving]]> I'm another wet-shaving convert. I've been using a double-edged razor for about a year and a half. I used to hate shaving; using a disposable razor always left my face dry and irritated.

But now I use a Merkur razor with a badger brush and shaving soap, and the difference is like night and day. Now I actually LIKE to shave!
