Hopefully we'll have an upcoming feature that will be a more legit excuse for this vid.
This video really sidesteps the fact that regardless of actual physical size, the dividing line between "big" cats (panthera) and small cats (Felidae) is whether or not they have a flexible or ossified hyoid bone. So despite the fact that cougars are generally bigger physically than say, leopards, they're no considered big cats, precisely because they CAN purr. This line gets blurred somewhat with species like Cheetahs or clouded leopards, which fall into neither category (Acinonyx and Neofelis respectively).

Regardless of taxonomy, listening to a mountain lion purr is awesome.

MSRP is $6000 USD. It's big for a few reasons, not the least of which is that if you're going to attach a long lens to the front you're going to want something solid at the back to attach it to. Beyond that, it doesn't really have that many buttons. Most are standard SLR controls like AF lock, AE lock, Exposure compensation, Shutter release, DOF preview etc. In some cases there are two of each of the controls in various places so that they can still be accessed while shooting vertically. The back has mostly buttons to go through the camera interface.

Camera tech *has* advanced quite significantly so that 90% of people don't need all the control offered on a camera like this, and you can get one of those for a lot less money.

None of these articles mention my favorite children's story of his - "How Tom Beat Captain Najork and his Hired Sportsmen". Definitely worth checking out.
Although interestingly enough, Felix Leiter went from being white in most of the Bond films, to black in the technically non-canonical Never Say Never Again, back to white for a bit, and black again in Casino Royale. :)
It was on my bucket list for a while too before I finally got to do it a few years ago. It's not cheap, but also not out of line with other such outings (going to Antarctica for example) and *completely* worth it. Don't wait - just go.
One answer I've found to my lactose intolerance is switching to Raw milk. It's not easy to find, but non-pasteurized, non homogenized milk gives me no problems at all. One explanation I've heard is that the violence of the homogenization process ruptures cell membranes and allows proteins to spill out that your body can react to. Another was that the heat of pasteurization kills off the beneficial bacteria that help digest the lactose. One farmer I spoke to said they had the same problem and found that non-homogenized milk was fine even when pasteurized at a lower temperature than normal.
#correction - palates should be pallets.?
@jschwalbe: You can do this with Gmail as well though. Just append a tag using "+" such as justin+lifehacker@gmail.com and it will all route to the single gmail account automatically. Occasionally I find a form on a site that won;t accept the + as a valid character, but not often enough to wrry about.
@Onthebox: To be fair, I'm not sure Garth Ennis has written much that doesn't deserve an R Rating. Even his Battlefields series for Dynamite which is straight war stories tends to be full of maiming, rapes, and other extreme violence.

Good stuff though.
@Gawd: YES to WE3 and I am Legend.

Y: The Last Man is great, but not sure I would give it to someone who doesn't read comics as it's a long series.

For self-contained single stories I also like I Kill Giants (as suggested above) and along the same lines as WE3, Pride of Baghdad.

Barefoot Gen - A Cartoon Story of Hiroshima is moving but brutal.

Other random titles:
Mouse Guard
Elephantmen:War Toys

Batman: The Long Halloween is also decent because most people are at least familiar with Batman and it's a great story. But my assumption for this list is that if these are for people don't already read comics, it's probably because they don't like superheroes and I'm unlikely to change their minds.
Damn. I quite like my HP WHS box. They look nicer than the Acers, have more functionality than most NAS boxes and are priced decently. With the addition of a few more features in hardware and software (HPs don't generally feature an expansion slot for a tuner) and support for Win 7 Media Center functionality with HD recording it'd near-perfect.
But how will this help me cook the Thanksgiving turkey? :)
PNAS is a rather unfortunate acronym for the organization.
@JLebowski: Or you could just go to the airport and let the TSA grope you intentionally.
@pyroamore: They're also supposed to be showing the Doctor Who at the Proms special as well, although no word on whether it's the extended version or the regular one.
@Geoffrey Worling: Actually, if you read the source article it was a female TSA agent that pulled her shirt down.

"The woman's attorney, Jerry McLaughlin, said the woman, now a 23-year-old college student, believes TSA employees acted improperly after a female TSA agent pulled off the woman's top during the screening."
@FartSponge: .MOV can be better in some respectts. It's easy to edit with Quicktime Pro and tends to be easier to scrub through to find particular frames.
@The Captain: As long as the younger Snake is not played by LaBeouf....
