I've just finished the first 3 books and was suprised to see no mention of 'Weirding Way' or the funky weapons that react to certain words. I know films are often different from their books and i shouldn't be surprised but i was a little disappointed.

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Smaug the Dragon and the Necromancer i think, though i doubt if either will be arrogant or problem-solving.
I'd of thought he would be reasonably recognisable stateside as he has been in some fairly major films, like the time machine, memento, rules of engagement & LA Confidential plus smaller roles in The Kings Speech and the Hurt Locker. He was brilliant in Prescilla and also Ravenous but i'd not be surprised if most Americans hadn't seen those. He will always be Mike from Neighbours for me though!
