@FearfulInsomniac: Well, God of War only "uprezzed" their textures on the re-release of the GoW collection. I don't see any reason Perfect Dark should do anything different. Besides, that would mean countless more hours of work to make more polys on the characters/levels. Most likely at the expense of the framerate.
@Bursar: Because it was exceptionally polished. This title is so full of great game design it hurts my heart to think about all the people who didn't play it. Goldeneye was a fantastic game all around too. But merely the predecessor to Perfect Dark. It pushed the N64 visuals beyond anything in it's time. The weapons and gadgets maintain variety throughout the entire campaign. The multiplayer features abound. Especially for a console FPS during that time period. I beat the entire game on "Perfect Agent" mode. Couldn't get enough of it. The only drawback I see many people take with this game is the plot twists, which I take little issue with myself because unlike Goldeneye, this game was not based off a blockbuster James Bond movie so it's not shocking that the writing that went into the story is sort of lackluster when compared to it's "little brother" Goldeneye. But on that same note, it was not restricted by a movie plot during it's development, so the level design and pacing is phenomenal. However, Goldeneye goes down in history not only as one of the greatest N64 titles (I was the 3rd most purchased N64 title), but also one of the best "movie to game" translations ever created, hands down. Most "movie to game" games really, REALLY suck ass. But Goldeneye is nothing short of a perfection in that category. (I actually saw the movie AFTER I played the game and felt like I had wasted my time watching the movie. The game told the story tit for tat.)
I feel bad for all the Steal Battalion Players out there. All 5 of them.
Ya the space program changed my life! I love my space pen!
No big deal. I think they have the right to delay the rental of these movies. I'm surprised they don't just do that for all retail rentals too. I mean, they are in business to make money. Anyone who was willing to wait for rental prices on a movie should have to wait a bit longer than persons willing to pay extra for first day release. Otherwise, if you wanted to see the movie so bad you should have bought a movie ticket.
@Geisrud: Ya I got "glassed" one day. Luckily, there was only 1/4 of a pint left in glass. I didn't even know I had been glassed until the suds were falling past my shoulders. My yoof Barney is quite the prankster.
I have to admit, I love me some AC. But stories that are more complex than previous titles? Gimme a break. I couldn't keep up with the stories from the get go. However, more robust and dramatic stages I would like to see. The missions for these games have always been so boring. Heck, the missions are less than half of the actual gameplay. I spend more time building and designing my robot than I do piloting the thing. Which I think is why I love it so much. At any rate, it would be really nice to see some missions that dynamically change (somewhat) to better match the AC you have built. I know you can build a weaker, slower, less armored AC to give yourself a challenge, but I'd love to see some dynamic missions that change up somewhat based on the power of your AC.
Sweet. I can't say that I "love" Scribblenauts. But it most certainly has it's fun factor and creative elements. When I was stopping bombs from exploding on impact by using marshmallows as cushions I was definitely enjoying myself.
@Masonvrocks: A million copies is alot of anything to sell. Install base has nothing to do with success.
@Gyaruson: Black hole doesn't work for every situation. However, it does work in ALMOST every situation where you need to kill things.
I'm pretty sure that "The Observer" has something to do with all the strange events that happen on the island. If you watch closely, you will see him present with "The Others" in season 2. Also, I've seen him working in the excavation sites shown in season 5. And I'm pretty sure Jack Bower was trying to stop that bomb from going off, but that is a spoiler for season 6. Sorry.
@Nexus6: The "Being" who can shape shift is also known as "Jacobs Enemy" who swore a vow that he would find a way to kill Jacob. It is my theory that "Jacobs Enemy" can assume the form of every person who has ever died or been a corpse on the island. That would explain why we saw Jacks dad and so many other people we thought were dead running around the island. This guy has some type of higher powers that enable him to take the form of anyone who has either died or been dead on the island. That's also why Locke told Richard Alpert to go out into the jungle, fix Lockes wounds, and tell Locke that he would have to die to save the island. At that time, it wasn't Locke talking to Richard, it was Jacobs Enemy in the form of Locke telling Richard to go tell the real Locke that he would have to die to save the island. (Which is a paradox in and of itself, but hey, the show is full of those.)
@Kanik: Actually, the hatch didn't require dynamite to open, that was just one way in. There is a airlock entrance on the ground level of the hatch. What boggles me is why Locke spent so many days excavating the hatch when there was obviously a nearby backdoor entrance to be found.
@ircmaster: Ya. Visual Voicemail = Win for convenience.
Wow. I don't really know if I'm even interested in one of these. The closer it get's to being released though the more I wonder if I'm going to try and nab one. I think the biggest thing stopping me from really being interested is the fact that I don't need and can't really afford a new gadget.
This was a good deal for $10 at staples. Pretty decent sound quality too. Albeit, not great sound quality, but what do you expect for $10. Cool feature is it expands itself like an accordion which really brings out the low end. [www.jamesmaurer.com]
@jason liang: Interesting. Thanks Jason.
Heh. That's a pretty cool comparison. It is interesting how true to life the game is. Of course, it's pretty obvious which is the game and which is real life. But the physics of the the way the car handles seems spot on. Of course, a video like this would be tailored towards convincing us of that.
@YuniYoshi: Negative Altima. If it did, you'd have millions of pissed off businessmen with F-d up PCs. An Xbox is not much different than a laptop.
@Piccoroz: Ya, something would be better than nothing. I'll admit that I love gaming on my iPhone, but any fast paced or twitch game play is just no fun to play on the iPhone. Even super monkey ball is tough to play, but that's mostly due to glare as you tilt the screen around. Here's to hoping that something gets done about all these "gaming" shenanigans since Apple is touting their product as a "gaming" device. And while I'm on that tip, Apple needs to do something about their submission/approval process for apps. Namely the games. They need some type of standards for devs to adhere to that is consistent across the board so that no one is getting blindly f----d during submission.
