I think you mean Activision (with their COD and Guitar Hero games) or UbiSoft (with their you-must-be-online DRM) or maybe Bethesda (horse armor).
I guess I'm one of the other two, I enjoyed Dragon Age II. I almost beat it twice, something I rarely do for games (other than ME 1 & 2), until a patch seemed to screw up my character's ability to survive for more than ten seconds in any significant battle.

I'd never thought of it, but it makes sense. My guess is that, looking at Marvel historically, they don't have a history of suing other individuals or companies for likenesses or inspirations. Perhaps it's because the people in charge actually realize that ubiquitous exposure is actually a good thing. (As an aside, I would really hope that the core values of a company that sells stories about heroes would be relatively pure.)
The other possibility is that they create so many new characters themselves in any given year that they will inevitably open themselves up to the same kind of lawsuit. Having a history of looking the other way when things like WoW night elves or any other derivative comes into play might make creators less likely to sue them or, if they did pursue it, gives Marvel ammunition to illustrate how "this sort of thing happens all the time".
Since this is being reported by EuroGamer and the article states that the in-game text will be available in "Japanese, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Chinese", the odds seem pretty good to me.
Actually, one of my favorite things about WoW was just how customizable the user interface is and how creative the mod community got with it. There are some beautiful WoW UIs out there, although the default one is not it.

I understand your argument but I disagree. I honestly don't think people the world over are going to say, "Oh, GTA V is set in a fictional version of some city I know little about? Pass." I think they've built up enough name recognition to not worry about that. People are going to say, "GTA V, gimme!"

I'm pretty sure you'll get on fine with Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's/All Heart's Day, Easter, and many others that aren't U.S. inventions. The only "U.S." holidays I can think of are Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

It must be so. In my game, despite the fact that Alistair sacrificed himself to save the kingdom, the ending scenes still had him as king. (I was pretty confused, and even relatively sober at the time.)

It's the northwest and looking outside it appears that video game season has officially begun. Hopefully my friend and I both have enough free time to finish up our split-screen co-op Gears 3 campaign. I have a feeling we're close. Other than that, I'll be splitting my time between some My Player in NBA 2k12, SotC/Ico and probably a little bit of Rock Band 3.

It's really a portable computer, considering that the smartphones of today have considerably more processing power and memory than, say, a PS2 (comparing the PS2 to an iPhone 4: 299MHz/32MB RAM vs. 800MHz/512MB). Or should Kotaku stop posting articles about PC games, too, since they are only "partial gaming devices"?
I thought it was funny that a "key element" of online conversation for Madden was "calling in sick in order to play". That's a dedicated fan base right there.
