"Fox kept the internet buzzing."
Remember that episode of Fox's 'Bones' where they did an entire b-plot about camping out to get seats for this film? Half the show's characters spent a couple of days switching places in line.
@Annalee Newitz: In my haste to be a correction troll, I also neglected to thank you for a great article. Really very thought provoking. After this last 'trip through the looking glass' decade, i'm genuinely excited to see what the next one will bring.
@Arken: I was thinking that, too. I believe there will be some additional construction in the next decade, but nowhere near where it has been in the last few years.
"an unprecedented book deal: £1 to write 10 books over the next decade"
wow a whole british pound to write 10 books? well, i'm sure he have a couple of ha'pennies left over in 2020, if he doesn't get greedy and spend it all. Perhaps, do you mean a million pounds? :)
@membrain: i wish they had done a little more with that too. I got the impression there might have been an additional scene with sane Walter they cut for time.
i can't wait to see supremely pissed, non-crazy, 'you stole my son' Walter coming over from the other side to seek revenge... you get the barest hint of sinister pre-crazy Walter (when they connect missing brain bits) in this episode, and it was kind of frightening enough.
@Aurangzeb: the environmental issues in the second Mars book weren't as bad as the mind-numblingly intricate descriptions of the political process in the third. #kimstanleyrobinson
this post actually made me go 'squeeee'. apparently, it won't be out until Dec 29th, though. i'm going to have to build an advent calender just for that.
' Pacific Edge', part of the 'Three Californias' set, was a really memorable utopian piece. The society in the book had overcome it's quest to consume, and put limits on personal wealth.
I think part of the problem with coming up a Utopian society is making it seem plausible that human beings would ever overcome their inherent selfishness.
The impending sense of doom is unnerving. This is the first time in DW that his regeneration is being treated as an event. It's always been a little trivialized, and now it's serious. Somehow, this is a real death, not just a costume change and a new pretty face. #doctorwho
Kings had a pretty terrible intro, as well. The whole butterfly theme always reminded me of The Monarch from Venture Brothers.
The K9 intro was just plain awful. I think they've struck a better balance with the new Sarah Jane show.
