Hm. Just now occurred to me that Zorg would be a fine villain for this Batman trilogy, in thematic terms (not just because it would be awesome). Also, not the weirdest rumor about DKR by a long, long, long shot.
Speaking as someone who actually watched Firefly while it was on the air, it never had a chance. The schedule jumped around. There was some sports competition (I think baseball and football) preempting it three(?) times. The pilot was a perfect two hour tv movie and... well.
All that to say I bear no ill will towards Fox or their executives. I'd love to see, and hear, more Firefly, but it's an exquisite thing just the way it is, and there are too few of those things just lying around for public consumption. #observationdeck
Man, I would've framed that letter. All i got were the "doesn't apply himself" and "sleeps in class" ones. Oh well. (I got that you got it, just joshin') #observationdeck
IIRC that was around the last writers strike, when they made Dr. Horrible, right? Perhaps not coincidentally also when Joss promised us he'd do more independent projects (and then did Dollhouse (not that I'm complaining))
I was being facetious in the comment, but I don't have a strong point of view on the remake phenomenon as a whole. Honestly I think Shakespeare and Dickens and Dumas (or Oceans 11 or Fistful of Dollars or The Departed) are strong arguments for remakes. Hell, let some young youtube director take a crack at Jaws. I probably wouldn't see it... unless I found out it was really good. #observationdeck
Defending Your Life is a great Albert Brooks/Meryl Streep movie. Sorta sci-fi-y if you consider the afterlife is pretty non-deominational. Maybe Confucian. But still. You kids born in the 90's should check it out.
To the main theme of the episode, I think forgiving yourself is a rich topic for therapist chairs, and fiction too. Dean is a heavy moralist, and in a job (calling?) like being a Hunter it's going to keep him alive, and make his life a living hell. Which is, of course, ironic since Dean's already been to actual Hell once. And then was saved by Castiel. Who then died trying to be a bigger moralist than Dean. And round and round we go.
I can already tell I'm going to like this season more than the last.
