<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Where Is My Uterine Replicator (AKA Artificial Womb)?]]> @ndgmtlcd: Actually, in the Bujold books, the placenta is included in the uterine replicator.

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Where Is My Uterine Replicator (AKA Artificial Womb)?]]> @Brock: Mother's love shouldn't need a shot. Else adoptive parents would be less successful. Breastmilk would need a shot (assuming that the tech for artificial milk wouldn't be in place), but that's not too hard. There are cases of women who were not pregnant starting to lactate just because they spent a lot of time around pregnant women. It's the same sort of phenomenon as the tendency of women who live together to synchronize cycles.

For that matter, how about shots for the daddies so that they, too, can experience the bonding of feeding?

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Cyber Ninjas and Slutty Catgirls Vie for Galactic Domination]]> Seth L - Are any of the male figures wandering around with their buttcheeks hanging out? How many of the female figures are wearing armor?

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on First Peek at Evil Secretary Silken Floss from Frank Miller's "The Spirit"]]> Oh, and Silken Floss in the original was a surgeon, as well as being able to remember to put on all of her clothes in the morning. We're going to be able to power a small city once Frank Miller is done with this - just hook a magnet to Will Eisner spinning in his grave...

]]>
<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on First Peek at Evil Secretary Silken Floss from Frank Miller's "The Spirit"]]> Who wears the bra-under-suit-jacket look anymore? It was in fashion for about thirty seconds in the 90's and that's about it. That it surfaced in the 90's, by the way, makes the look way too recent to qualify as "retro" either. Not that Scarlett isn't smoking hot, but this look doesn't say "Ooh, I'm sexy" to me, it says "I'm too stupid to remember I was going to wear a shirt today"!

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Flash Gordon Canceled on Sci Fi Channel]]> >>Hey Skiffy, next time you reimagine a show give it a budget so the wardrobe department doesn't have to shop at Kmart and you can have more sets, without having to do all the outside forest scenes.

Nevermind the sets and costuming, "Hey, haven't we seen this tree before?" and "Sorry, we only have the one rubber suit" are practically sci-fi institutions. How about springing for actual writers?

>> All those horrid "wink wink" lines are just grating.

I didn't mind it so much since I didn't read it as Jack actually flirting. I read the "shilling a feel" line more as an attempt to distract the prim ladies from what he'd just done, and the rest of it as an attempt to regain control of the situation.

>> Okay, here's why I bitch- by the time I watch this episode 6 days from now, this thread will be buried 7 pages deep. So, any of us who don't watch it via the interwebs, etc., are left out of the discussion.

Imagine how all the rest of the world feels about American TV exports and the resultant online discussion. 7 days is actually amazingly short lag for a show with international interest like this.

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Heroes Needs To Cater To Fans, Resurrect Me, Says Actor]]> How explicitly were his brains spattered? With the desolidification, there's some excuse for "just a flesh wound" after all.

]]>
<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Time Travel for Eco-Tourists]]> there really should be *some* deforestation here. or, y'know, change the description to 10,000 years ago.

10,000 years is no good, either. The coastlines would have been completely different that far back.

<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Women Hate The "Feminized" Sci Fi Channel]]> I was especially annoyed at the part of the adweek article that implied that SciFi was showing more "Earth-based" dramas in order to be more female friendly. No, you're using more "Earth-based" settings because it's cheaper to shoot in and around Vancouver than to build original sets.

That's also why we're seeing those ghost story "reality" shows, by the way. They're dirt cheap to make. The cheezy movies are also a lot cheaper to license than higher-quality fare.

]]>
<![CDATA[Y Duras commented on Women Hate The "Feminized" Sci Fi Channel]]> Oh, bull. Women (and the rest of SciFi fandom) don't hate Flash Gordon because it's "feminized". We hate it because it's badly written!
