Real-Life Scientists Select Their Favorite Scifi FilmsS

Scientists from Harvard, MIT, University of California and various other institutions were polled by Popular Mechanics on their favorite scifi flicks, and the results may surprise you.

Each scientist selected a film and explained why it was their favorite; for example Steven Schlozman, Harvard Medical School's codirector of medical student education in psychiatry, singled out WALL-E because, "These films hold mirrors up to our conceptualization of self, and then distort what we see. In WALL-E, do you feel closer to the robot or to the humans? The capacity to tolerate a version of yourself that you might not like is central to recent neurobiological ideas, such as theory of mind and mirror neurons."
