Marvel's Kevin Feige has been talking up The Inhumans as a possible upcoming movie for a few years now, alongside the equally cosmic Guardians of the Galaxy. Now that Guardians is going ahead, there are new rumors that we could be seeing a big-screen version of the saga about a weird alien clan.
According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel is going ahead with a new Inhumans comic written by Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), in which the aliens split into different houses around the Inhuman Royal Family — like the House of Medusa, the House of Maximus, and so on. There's feuding and scheming, and it's designed to be like Marvel's answer to Game of Thrones. And according to Bleeding Cool, this could be the version of the characters that gets turned into a movie.
This is a wildly different take on the Inhumans than the one that Marvel put out as a film logline in 2011: "The Inhumans are aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell agents to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war." Also, it seems like a somewhat different notion than the one of turning the Inhumans into Marvel's in-house answer to Fox's X-Men franchise, which has also been bandied about.
Update: It's been pointed out that this was published on Bleeding Cool on April 1, although I just saw it being passed around today. So it's probably not actually true. Sorry about that!
Update #2: Rich Johnson responded and said this wasn't actually an April Fools thing. So it's still just a rumor, but at least now we know it's not a hoax.
