Sin City Rip-Off Series Boggles The Mind

Why would anyone want to make a poor man's Sin City? Looking like it was filmed in someone's garage, a new show in development called Dead End City has a host of "sexy" ladies wearing outfits from a box of old Halloween costumes. The show's ancient main character is Murphy, played by Gary Graham from Alien Nation and Star Trek: Enterprise. I can't figure out too much from the official website, but it looks like Murphy teams up with Dead End City's "Babes" to solve crimes and make out, which is disturbing in so many ways. The Spirit Will Not Be Sin City 2

Frank Miller's movie adaptation of Eisner's classic comic, The Spirit won't be a clone of his noir-gasm comic and movie Sin City, despite that black-and-white-and-red trailer we showed a while back. Miller, who's directing the new movie, insists in a new blog entry that The Spirit "only resembles Sin City in that I am its director, and, well, yes, I have my ways and my proclivities. Luckily, I was able to discern three important proclivities I share with the Master. We both love good stories. We both love New York City. And we both love beautiful women." But the actual movie will be in full color — although the Spirit's trademark blue suit will be black, because the blue version just looked too campy on screen. [Geeks Of Doom] More »

Amanda Tapping Creates A Safe Space For Mutants To Just Be Themselves

Amanda Tapping (Stargate SG-1) plays the protector of downtrodden monsters in Sanctuary, soon to appear on the Sci Fi Channel. Her character, Dr. Helen Magnus, is a "cryptozoologist" who creates the Sanctuary Institute to protect and study the mutants that skulk around her future dystopian city. Sanctuary is the first direct-to-web show to jump to a major cable channel. It's also the first TV show to use almost all greenscreen sets. Magnus and her daughter Ashley (pictured) also meet Jack The Ripper and Bigfoot, just in case you were worried the show might not be cheesy enough for Sci Fi.
