But today, an engineer has proposed - and outlined in meticulous detail – building a full-sized, ion-powered version of the Enterprise complete with 1G of gravity on board, and says it could be done with current technology, within 20 years. It turns out that watching the first two seasons of original Star Trek all at once is kind of addictive. Really, try it. You won't be able to look away. It's something about the way the theme tune comes on pane by pane, in staggered increments, so that the soaring opera wail appears over and over again, and the Enterprise zooms past again and again.
