Steve Carell and James Gandolfini will play history's wackiest feuding paleontologists in Bone Wars

Othniel Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope are the perfect subjects for a historical comedy. During the infamous "Bone Wars," these rival paleontologists sabotaged each other's expeditions, stole bones, destroyed bones, and wrote scathing reports on each other in scientific journals. Now Steve Carell and James Gandolfini will portray the pair in an HBO film.

Deadline reports that Gandolfini will play Marsh and Carell will play Cope in the HBO-produced movie, titled Bone Wars, which is set after the American Civil War. Deadline says the film will be a "sophisticated comedy" about the famous rivalry, which led to the discovery of dozens of dinosaurs and ruination of both men's reputations.
