I have a huge unfair advantage over other struggling fantasy authors, because I've read Mirror Kingdoms: The Best of Peter S. Beagle. Beagle gives a storytelling masterclass, and plants images in your head that you'll carry around for ages. <a href="http://io9.com/5667226/peter-s-beagle-takes-you-to-myth+making-school" title="Click here to read more about Peter S. We all marveled at the fan art that showed Wil Wheaton riding a unicorn-dragon-kitten into battle with an Orc John Scalzi. And now you can read the true, and unquestionable stories behind the image. For charity! More »

Hear Stross' Drunken Sex Robot Odyssey

"I want you to know, darling, that I'm leaving you for another sex robot, and she's twice the man you'll ever be." That's the first line of Charles Stross' novella "Trunk and Disorderly," which just went online as an audio book at Subterranean Press. Originally published in Asimov's Science Fiction, it's a silly P.G. Wodehouse-esque spoof about a drunken socialite who blunders around with his butler and his sister's miniature elephant. He barely manages to survive a coup attempt disguised as a wild party.
