Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance comes out this weekend — which means we have a chance to pay tribute to one of the all-time great cult-movie method actors. Nicolas Cage has gone from serious Academy Award-winning actor to bee-eating B-movie wizard. More »

It's been a fairly depressing morning, what with all that incurable gonorrhea and feline mind control. Here's some more toe-tapping news. This spring, Smallville will take a cue from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and resurrect itself as a comic by former story editor and Batgirl scribe Bryan Q. Miller. More »

Designer Danny Haas has created a series of weathered posters that split famed superheroes' personalities straight down the middle. For characters such as Jean Grey and Susan Richards, the divide is less obvious but no less charming. Here's hoping he makes a Multiple Man diagram that's shaped like a pie chart. You can pick up prints of these fractured do-gooders at Haas' Society 6 shop.

Check out this close-up shot of our new Superman, Henry Cavill, on the set of The Man of Steel. Sporting the jet-black hair and scaled spandex, he certainly is filling out that cape fairly well. But without his red shorts, we wonder if Cavill will be plagued with the notorious "Bowie Bulge" from Labyrinth — not that that's necessarily a bad thing. More »

DC Comics finally unveiled their new logo today. Even though the uncolored, leaked versions of the logo made it look like a sinister law firm, the official design can be delightfully tailored to each and every individual character. For example, there could theoretically be a Spider Jerusalem logo barking blue language at would-be consumers: More »

The Crystal Cave — known to many as La Cueva de Los Cristales — is buried 300 meters below the Earth's surface, sequestered away in the Naica ore mines of Chihuahua, Mexico. The 1980s gave audiences plenty of timeless bad guys like the Terminator, Boba Fett, and Vigo the Carpathian. The decade also dished out plenty of incompetent and ill-conceived villains. Posted on the While we love the notion of Henry Cavill playing Clark Kent, we're still nervous about Zack Snyder's Man of Steel movie. DC and Marvel have crossed over their superheroes officially on several occasions, but what about those times canny writers and illustrators snuck these titanic team-ups under the table? Here's a bunch of times Marvel and DC creators stealthily transcended universes.

An important question needs to be answered by the editors of DC Comics! Superman, one of their flagship characters, is famously unable to see through lead — even though he can see microscopic substances, and he can see across immense distances. More »

Everybody knows that the movies can be a messy business — oftentimes, what reaches the big screen is the result of a process akin to sticking your fingers in a Cuisinart. And sometimes the original director of a project gets dropped just before filming starts — as happened with The Wolfman. Or sometimes the director gets dropped after shooting but during the editing phase, as was rumored to be happening with the Judge Dredd film recently. We also learned just a couple weeks ago that Steven Spielberg came perilously close to being sacked from Jaws halfway through shooting. More »

It's kind of hard to imagine that there are more ridiculous design ideas for Tim Burton's Superman Lives than the stuff we've already seen, including the light-up disco suit and the Nic Cage test shots. It's new comics day, and for many of us that means a trip to our local comic store to pick up those amazing pamphlets filled with graphic storytelling. Everybody has been saying for years that "floppy" comics are going away, and soon we'll all just buy the trade paperbacks. What's the point in even dealing with floppies, when it's all written for the inevitable trade collection? You're just getting 1/5 of a story, they say. More »

Whole bunch of crazy in the week's comics. A Superman without a girlfriend, the man who wrote The Dark Knight Returns is back to fight the War on Terror, and Jack Kirby's post-apocalyptic manimal series gets ready for your bookshelf.
