Yay! I got the book from the library today! I can participate this time.

If I haven't forgotten all about it by then.

In reply to Tomorrow's V Asks Who You'd Rather Have As Your Mom: Erica Or Anna?
Is this going to be the "official" thread for the show that aired tonight?

If so, I'm really pleased with this series. I was bracing myself to not like it during these last months that we've been reading all the developments on the creation of the show, but for a network series, they did a good job.

Some people complain it's not as good as the original mini, but I think if you've seen the original mini, it's even more enjoyable.

The writers have payed serious homage to the original, there are so many elements from the original that are being remixed here... for example, tonight it was the "evil scientists", just like in the original, the scientists were the evil ones who were being ostracized.

I am really enjoying this series. I hope it makes it a full season.

In reply to Twilight Heroin And Biting Fans: More WTF Twilight Stories
Twilight slash? Yeah, I could dig it (and I'm sure it exists.. heh :P).

I honestly do like the books, setting aside Bella's ludicrous fawning. Haven't seen the movies yet, but I'm sure they do Jacob an injustice. Unlike all the rest of the characters in the series, he's actually quite well developed.

If you really want to sci-fi it up, how about a giant Tripod lumbering down the street? A firetruck of firemen setting fire to copies of Twilight. An Area 51 "weather balloon". A flashmob of zombies fresh from an outbreak of the Rage virus. Darth Vader's Helmet balloon. An army of cylons marching along. Alien Vs Predator - they could stage a mock battle in various locations as the parade progresses.

    Good Lord.
I once watched two of those giant-assed scary lizards in Iraq duke it out. I'm pretty sure those were real lizards in that video clip; scariest part of the whole thing was that the ones I saw in Iraq were about that size...

Im pretty sure one of the top ones is a dwarf Caiman.

I remember this movie because once I saw it, I immediately glued some cardboard to my do to make it a Triceratops. Brianna was NOT amused.

In reply to Tasty Foods That Would Rather Eat You for Dinner
I need help with this. There is an old, John W Campbell era short story where a race of intelligent crustaceans try to invade earth. They attempt to infiltrate basically by canning themselves so they end up getting eaten as delicious lobsters and the humans win (typical for the era). Campbell may have even written it. Can anybody remember the title?

In reply to Untold Adventures: The Complete History Of Tie-In Novels
Somewhat surprised at the absence of one of the great tie-in novel series of all time: the Battletech books. VERY symbiotic, and canon to both the RPG and the computer games.

@Daveinva: Oh, also, another -tech: the Robotech novels, in particular the "Jack McKinney" ones.

For some stupid reason, they were always very divisive among the fans, but I thought they were excellent, especially once they got to the Sentinels books (which were MUCH better IMO than Carl Macek's goofy story-sketch he had for that ill-fated series).

@Aidan_: I keep going back and forth about whether those are real lizards... I guess they are. At first I thought they were but then it seemed like they were too choreographed, and weirdly fake looking. I guess they're well trained and the stuff stuck on them is the fake-looking part.

@Aidan_: @vworp: @julie.ws: I went ahead and researched it a bit more, and tweaked my writeup to make it clear I don't condone mistreating poor lizards for the sake of a crappy dinosaur fight.
