You know, they can blab all they want about who did what and what did who, but in the end, it's still available for free (illegally) online. I don't see how this will drum up Blu-Ray/DVD sales.
What? Unrated version has norks? Well then... *takes out wallet*
"How I met Your Mother" has better(and more clever) nerd references in it than ANY episode of BBT.
HIMYM doesn't spoon feed you references. They do them and a lot of the time, don't give them a direct citation like BBT. For example, a few weeks ago, there was an awesome Leeroy Jenkins nod that could have been easily missed. Not to mention the "Top Gun" scene from the same episode.
@Evlsushi: Yeah, HIMYM works their references into the plot and conversations rather than screeching the whole show to a stop and putting a neon sign on them.
God I love this show. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RECAP THIS!!! It's a nerd-trip a mile friggin long.. my wife didn't understand half the jokes until she started watching TNG reruns (Data is her favorite character, and like me she loathes Nemesis and considers it unwatchable - she was also quite upset with me for not spoiling Nemesis and letting her find out the hard way about Data in the end).
@rileyjam514: I think Chuck is more worthy of recapping than BBT, to be honest. Partly because Chuck has an actual science fictional premise. And partly because Chuck has more to recap. Plus, Adam Baldwin.
I hate nerd shout-outs on TV. I remember a lot of BSG fans creaming themselves over the "frak" reference on Veronica Mars; I found that scene awkward and stupid.
@Mav: The Middleman had a great way of putting nerd shout outs and obscure geeky references. Some were so subtle that I didn't spot them until reading about them in blogs and others weren't subtle at all but still hilarious "WHERE IS YOUR BEARD?"
This is the best comedy show in years, fresh characters that transcend the nerd stereotypes, creative writing, great acting, and of course the stale sitcom format, but the show really rocks.
Who doesn't love Rock Paper Scissors, Lizard, Spock?
@GreyHammer: I was on an airplane a while ago, and we had the awesome personal TV screens in our seats. I got to watch a couple episodes of Big Bang Theory right after a couple episodes of the British show, the IT Crowd. Suffice to say, Big Bang Theory did not do very well out of the comparison.
big bang theory is unwatchable for me. nerd stereo types and poor joke writting make me tune out. its actually made me miss a show i actually like because i changed the channel (how i met your mother. NPH is the shit.)
@GreyHammer: I've always wondered. Do the 'cool kids' get offended at how they're portrayed on TV and stuff? By comparison, our caricatures are just wacky.
@GreyHammer: I recently gave BBT a try on the plane... couldn't make it past the first 5 minutes. They aren't nerds, they're socially retarded hipsters.

Therefore, I totally believe it.

As did "Prof. Emmett Brown from the Hill Valley Institute."
That show was really far too sophisticated be on TV. I should have known it never would have survived. *sighs* I still mourn this.
