Spoilers!

Aaron explains everything, but we dare you to stop staring at his t-shirt for long enough to start listening.

Aaron On The Emissary: "I think it's fascinating. I think it's great. It's so close to real that it's almost plausible... it's so fun to go to a movie or see a TV show and there's just that hint of supernatural aspect to it, but there's so much reality."

Aaron on Tyrol's journey: "The thing I didn't like about making him a Cylon is that you're marginalizing him. You take a character that the fans really like, [who's] such a likeable guy. [But on the other hand, once you know the Chief is a Cylon], suddenly everything makes sense. And he just suddenly has that moment of, "Oh, I get it." Some people really don't like it, but it's a weird thing. I don't think the Cylons are completely evil, or the humans are completely good."

On accepting Ellen as the final Cylon: "I really didn't like the fact that Ellen was the fifth one, when I read it. I thought, "Oh, come on."... But when the mythology unfolded and Ron told us the whole story and explained why — what you guys will see at the end, the explanation of who the final five are and what they mean — I really liked that. I think it's really great. Ellen and Tigh are like mom and dad to the rest of us."

Why not Cally? "I think that's just too obvious. I think the only couple that would work is Tigh and Ellen."

On Hot Dog being the daddy: "Cally was putting her cabbage breath on his hotdog... I liked that. I thought it was great. I thought it was hilarious."

On Gaeta becoming our new love-to-hate character: "It came out of nowhwere. I mean the most mild-mannered nice guy, and then he just snaps. I think it's great. "

BSG's ending: "The ending's perfect. You'll cry your eyes out."

<![CDATA[3 BSG Characters Have A Dark Secret In Their Past]]> The more we hear about the new Battlestar Galactica TV movie, the more it sounds as though it'll have to reinvent the show's history a tad in order to make sense. But that could be a good thing, as writer Jane Espenson refashions some old continuity to tell a story about some Cylons on a journey of self-discovery. Star Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) was just at a Fan Expo, and he confirmed which characters will star in the movie, and when it's set. Including spoilers, of course.

Says Douglas:

We're doing a movie that spans season one and two. It's a story about Cavil and Tyrol and Anders. It's going to be like Razor. It's going to air on TV and then go straight to DVD. It's not a feature film, it's basically an extended episode. We start filming that in September, and we'll finish in September.

This is my cue to go into some pointless speculation. The phrase "spans seasons one and two" could mean the TV movie covers the entirety of those two seasons, or it could mean the movie covers the end of season one and the beginning of season two. Either way, these are three characters who had never met each other during this time frame, unless my memory is worse than usual.

Tyrol, of course, gets trapped on Kobol with Baltar, Cally and some other people at the end of season one and gets rescued a few episodes into season two. Did Tyrol have some kind of encounter on Kobol that we don't know about? (Could it have something to do with Crashdown, who's still one of my top picks for the final Cylon, and who was on Kobol as well?) Meanwhile, Anders doesn't meet Starbuck until season two, episode four — the same episode where Tyrol finally gets back to Galactica.

And we don't meet Brother Cavil for the first time until the very end of season two, right? I'd have to rewatch "Lay Down Your Burdens" to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that's the first meeting between Tyrol and Cavil.

<![CDATA[Chief Tyrol Spills The Beans On Battlestar Season Four]]> Remember those subplots on Battlestar Galactica which seemed to go on forever? Turns out Chief Tyrol actor Aaron Douglas hated them too. Answering fan questions on Livejournal, the source of all drama, he says:

I like shows, like BSG, that move quickly on story lines and then get off them and never return (which was why I hated season one of Sharon and Helo running and running and running... we get it!!!! They're on a planet running... Jesus... get off it now. Or the love 4 some with Apollo Anders Dualla and Starbuck.... Ugh.... move on please....). That honest enough?
He also gives away some season four spoilers.

There are "rumors from the writers" that Chief Tyrol and Boomer get back together, says Douglas. But he emphatically doesn't want to see those characters get back together, and he doesn't think they need/deserve any resolution. He also says these are the favorite lines he utters in the first half of season four:

  • "Daddy's sorry..."
  • "Drop your dicks and grab your sticks (although that might not make the edit)"
  • "I guess he told them..."

More BSG spoilers from other sources: Episode nine features the return of Kate Vernon as Ellen Tigh, possibly wearing an outfit similar to one of the Cylon Sixes' va-va-voom dresses. The actual Six also has a scene with Col. Tigh around that same time. And the last two episodes (if they get filmed) feature a humongous battle with special effects that we've never seen before. Fans speculate that the battle will be between pro-human and anti-human Cylons, with Galactica caught in the middle. Rumor has it our heroes will find Earth, in our 22nd century. It may also be a post-apocalyptic Earth. [The Patriot Resource]]]>
