This movie was so boring and terrible I walked out. And I love campy, so I thought I might like it. No such luck. Still one of the worst movies I ever saw years later.

That's bizarre- even creepier if you think of Pacino's character as a mouthpiece for Niccol, who both wrote and directed. Which 'starlet' did he feel got too much media time after one of his movies? Is it really all about his 'vision' instead of the actors' performances?

Honestly, these 'Hollywood is hollow and overexposed' tropes leave me flat. When your art is Gattaca and the Truman Show, maybe you should take all the celebrity exposure you can get.

@taxbaby: I've been pondering this comment for a couple days, and finally thought I should actually respond. :)

I don't think Pacino is being a mouthpiece for Niccol here. Pacino's character is meant to be an egotistical jerk who thinks actors are replaceable, and that's what you're seeing there. But one of the things I like about that scene is the layers -- what Simone is supposedly saying, what Pacino thinks she's saying, and then what Niccol thinks Pacino thinks.

@NotArthurPDragon: It's for sure a very flawed movie, but I can forgive a lot if a movie is willing to go in some interesting/thought-provoking directions, like this one did. There are plenty of movies that play it safe for 2 hours and leave you with the feeling that nothing was particularly wrong, but nothing was all that memorable either. S1m0ne, at least, takes some major risks and only fails at some of them.

It really wasn't worth anything. I really wanted it to be but I remember seeing it and thinking Pacino was done and dusted. It's a horrendous ''film''. And besides,it's practically Britney's real life so no. No no. No no no no no. Way.

@Andy Bartholomew: as someone who does this for a living I can only say that the premise is a good one, but the way the technology is presented is painfully simplistic and insulting...even to people who don't know anything about it.

...worse, the film abandons it's ideas pretty early and just lays there...

ugh...
