Gawd, if that dude didn't look so much like Kid Rock, whom I despise, I might be tempted. I won't be able to read this without thinking "Kid Rock wants to suck my blood." #americanvampire
I think that stuff like this is an excellent counterpoint to all of the indescribably lame, foppish vampire drivel going on right now. Less brooding and more killing. #americanvampire
While I never played it (although I enjoyed several of the sourcebooks), this sounds similar to the background/set-up of the "Vampire: the Masquerade" rpg (possibly I'm just making that connection because Mr. Snyder said the basic idea came to him while in a gaming shop, though his description of the various types of vampires reminds me of the rpg's clans). That being said, I will be picking up the first couple of issues (at least). #americanvampire
This looks like a great series, and as a longtime vampire fan I can't wait to read it, but...
I was like, how come we never see vampires in these kind of places? <<
Blending vampires with American iconography has been around for decades. The imagery is not as prominent in the mainstream as the Grade Z "old world Count," but it's definitely there. "Near Dark" comes to mind as one of the more prominent examples. #americanvampire
@MondoVampire: Glad to see I wasn't alone with the "Near Dark" flashback. Guess we can't expect Snyder to know everything vampire-related, but I always considered it a landmark bloodsucker movie. #americanvampire
@Troylis: Ditto. It's funny, a lot of writers promise a "new angle" on vampires - all I look for these days is a good story with vampires. Hopefully "American Vampire" will be one of those. I've always been surprised that Vertigo hasn't had an ongoing vampire series. #americanvampire
"Never mind your emo Twilight vampires...Scott Snyder and Stephen King create a whole new "muscular and vicious" breed of toothy undead next year." Great, so our vampires are going from twinks to bears? #americanvampire
@Dr.Quatermass: I think it's still too early to assess the full cultural impact of One-Eyed Monster and Teeth, but maybe something along those lines? #americanvampire

Only, as he's a vampire, he looks less pale and unhealthy. #americanvampire

I'm saving just a tiny core of Vampire enthusiasm for Daybreakers, but beyond that lockbox I'm spent, all tapped out.
It's time for something else. #americanvampire
