This might be my first chance to watch Battlefield Earth with a somewhat clear conscience. I'm already paying for Netflix, so I won't feel like I'm giving money to Scientology...
Everything I know now about Scientology, I looked up because some hyperactive Scieno Shills for Battlefield were stinking up the boards back in, what, 2000?
I accidentally read the book in high school. Man, what a stinker.
I vote for Battlefield Earth, but the rifftrax version. It's still a watchable movie, and you get something to take the edge off. It's like getting your leg cut off, but the surgeon gives you some 30 year-old scotch before. I reccomend Rifftrax for almost all movies that they have available, but there is a side effect of whenever you see Ian McClelon, you go "Cerebro, I mean Magneto".
I vote a combo: first Battlefield Earth, then a Frequency chaser. Because even after the venting of writing a review of Battlefield Earth you're going to need something to show you again that there is good and right in the universe, and some of it's on display in Frequency.
Also, Frequency is one of those rare (as far as I know) father/son films that manages to be both intellectually interesting and touching without turning off the wimmens. I watched it with my parents years ago, we were all surprised how the entire family enjoyed it.
I saw it while home sick and high on meds and it was on in the middle of the afternoon, and it wasn't even bad-good. It was just hideous, the sort that makes you angry anyone earned money from it at all, that it was ever greenlit.
I'm firmly convinced it was written when a bunch of vagrants were given D&D fridge magnets and instructed to randomly throw them against a board. And lo, the Dragon Wars script was written.
battlefield earth because it is so minding blowingly bad. It raises so many questions, like how the aliens can take over the earth in 30 minutes but then 100 yrs later get their asses' kicked by cavemen flying jets.
...um, I should point out that Splice is directed and written (with others) by Vincenzo Natali - nothing to do with Del Toro - he's just an executive producer (along with 4 others)...

While you're at it, you can review "Son of Godzilla" which is now available on Hulu.com:

Drunk or stoned, Battlefield Earth.

Dragon Wars I haven't seen yet. Was told not to bother by my brother/campy movie guru, but I'll bother at some point in the future. Maybe today... :P.
Godzilla Vs. Destroyer/Space Godzilla...no idea. I've never seen any of the Godzilla movies.
Battlefield Earth was horrible beyond most. But that'd probably make your review funny in the least, so that'd be a good watch.
Antibody...no idea again. But thanks for the recommend!

And I vote for changing the links to IMDB rather than to Netflix. It makes you sign in.
