    So lonely people will remain lonely because they turn their attention to appliances rather than real human interaction.

    Not to mention I can see the possibility that this will turn misanthropic nerds into misogynists who feel they don't need to treat women with respect and dignity because, well what good are real women when their fembots are slaves to their every creepy desire.

    Uh..if all you want it for is sex, do you really need it to talk? What happens if it's a boring conversationalist?

    If the actually get this working, I foresee a steep drop in human population. Human relationships are difficult. The allure of a "sex-slave" that can be reprogrammed at any time or have it's appearance altered with a kit will overshadow anything a human mate can offer (except children).

    It might be that sperm-bank donations will have to become mandatory and women will end up being single-parents by default. Or sex will become orgies of her, him, and his fembot (and maybe her boy-bot).

    In answer to Rumtum, I would say that some levels of lonely are better than other levels of lonely - the levels which are less lonely, basically. And even less lonely will help some of mankind, and perhaps that level of help will be beneficial.

    I will also admit to not really being that convinced that the bottom is going to drop out of the internet porn business.
