I'd rather see Robot Chicken do a take on Astonishing than some lame ass motion comic (which is short for "we're too cheap to animate the whole thing") #xmen
I hate motion comics. If I want to watch a movie, I'll watch a movie. If I want to read a comic, I'll read a comic. I don't want some weird hybrid with the worst attributes of both.
At least it actually has different voice actors for different characters, which the Watchman motion comic didn't. And they had the gall to show that snooze-fest on TV.
Mostly, I find motion comics boring. The pictures won't move as fast or as dynamically as my brain can make them. They ask us to both move the pictures with our minds AND sit back and passively watch it. My brain just misfires. And dialogue that sounds great on the page sometimes doesn't in audio.
@GreyHammer: Not true, it's edited stills with audio.
I don't know. I can't do the whole motion comic thing. It always ends up just looking bizarre. I'd rather just read the comic at my own pace with my own imagination doing the voices.
@Jake Stevens: Similar to reading Japanese Manga on YouTube. Some of them are quite amazing with songs and special effects noises that follow the story.
It's nice though. I like motion comics. They should be able to put out a lot of them fairly quickly. Although it looks a little weird when the faces are manipulated. I don't necessarily think that motion comics characters have to move from smile to frown, or move lips when they talk. I think we can all imagine that part.
@Pope John Peeps II: I wish they would just make it a cartoon. I like comics I like cartoons, but this is like a weird hybrid that I find hard to watch. And I hate the voices.
@Bongoes: Yeah that's what I mean. Motion comics are fun mostly because they combine the fun of great voice acting with the fun of single-panel visuals.
I think if you're going to make an animation, make an animation. Motion comics should have a bit of life in them, but I don't think you need too much.
Just take a look at this, for example. maybe the single greatest motion comic ever made. I watch it pretty much once a week. There isn't much motion, and some AMAZING voice acting.

Why didn't he track down and force Mr. Sinister to cough up on his clones of her?
Mr. Sinister always has clones of Jean to spare, doesn't he? #xmen

Its as dumb as having a book which scrolls its text at a pre-determained rate.
Comics need variable pacing based on viewer and content. They have creative paneling to appreciate, its not all square frames.
The only thing missing from comics which could improve them is music. Purhapes some new cbr format could link music to pages.

Perfect for people who hate to read and can't stand great animation.
