    @Dr Emilio Lizardo: Lessee, Boris Vallejo album covers...he did "Bat out of Hell" by Meatloaf, one for Jim Steinman (Yes, I'm googling now), and that one for Enya. Are there others?

    So, Mr. Anders ... I think you're not using a valid definition of "pulp SF" here.


    _The Number Of The Beast_ isn't pulp SF; pulp ended around 1949-1950, and that was published in 1980. Neither is _The Tar-Aiym Krang_, which appeared in 1972. _The Chronicles of Corum_ isn't even SF; it's fantasy. Most of the other SF novel covers that I recognize are also from 1960-1980, meaning you've got a ten-year gap at least, there.


    Pulp is not just "old SF", it's "Old SF from a particular era". Like "screwball comedy", let's not dilute a perfectly valid term by using it to refer to something outside its definition.

    @capnrob: I'm using the term "pulp" somewhat broadly, I'll admit... it's classic paperbacks. I think lots of people have their own taxonomies of what constitutes pulp. By the way, I'm not a mister. :)

    #2 is the Boston album, #3 is of course Rust in Peace, #10 is the Wolfmother album (but I think Frank Frazetta did the artwork), #17 is Queensryche "Take Cover."


    If I was putting this together I would have used pretty much anything by Hawkwind but I personally love the Warrior on the Edge of Time cover:

    @Grey_Area: "The Sea Witch" by Frazetta was a cover for Eerie magazine and a popular poster but not a book cover, so album it it.

    @noamjamski: Looks like Wlofmother has used a few of Frank's piece.


    #14 is Frazetta's "The Brain" another Warren magazine cover, also used as an album cover for Nazareth.

    Can we get a ruling on this?
