I would buy a TON more comics right now if I didn't have to store them somewhere or figure out how to dispose of them without knowing I just dropped $4 for a 15-minute (tops) read.

The comics industry focuses on the collector subset of their readership at its peril, and the faster they move into digital formats as an alternative, the better. I think they'd probably see an increase in readership if they did that. I know they would with me.

I won't mess with the pirated versions available but Didio should know they exist and he should step-up and offer a legal alternative to those of us who would pay for it.

@JennaW: Exactly. For the price of 2 comics nowadays, I can get a paperback that's going to give me a lot longer read, plus be easier to resell, transfer, everything.

Online legal stuff does work, and I'd love to get me some Superman that way.

@JennaW: To each his or her own I guess...readership might increase with digital versions (as long as the print version continues), but if they ever went all digital, they'd lose me. I just can't get into reading comics off a computer screen. I regularly read one online comic strip that is 4 panels, but I can't imagine reading an entire 22-page issue that way. Plus, I can't take my computer all the places that I can take a paper comic book. I guess I'm just an old fogey.

@dru_zod: It's just silly to assume a digital version would preclude a print version. That is not the case with music, movies, books, etc. It is an additional format -- an additional revenue stream -- and there is no reason for comics companies not to offer it. Comics are all digitized for printing already, and copy protection technology already exists for many other similar formats. They are leaving money on the table.

@dru_zod: The flip side: consider one of Gene Ha's Top 10 panels or a Perez crowd scene on a nice, big monitor. The detail is still there in the print version, but my aging eyes pick it out a lot better when it's blown up to double or triple normal size.

Out of all of this, I'm most bummed by what has become of Tim Drake, who for years became more interesting to me than Dick Grayson. I think he needs a fun team-up with Bart Allen and Connor Kent (does he even know they're back? I've missed a lot).

I'm always willing to give Morrison another try, despite the last two events he helmed. His hit rate is always around .750 with me. Winnick, on the other hand, I have forever sworn off. I seriously want that man back at Marvel and away from some of my favorite DC characters.

I've enjoyed Rucka immensely in the past, but for some reason his Crime Bible stuff just never caught on with me. Sad to hear he's still using it in Detective now (and with Batwoman again! That characters whole existence/appearance seems to be tied up with Crime Bible thus far. Expand!).

@DocSeuss: True - it's more a problem with the art in general. It's a little like whatever you see on the screen is the responsibility of the director, one could argue. Either way, I should have been clearer.

@ Graeme: You LUUUVVVVV Batman: Brave and the Bold and you're criticizing Grant Morrison use of outlandish characters? Not that I'm directly comparing the two - Grant Morrison is a genius - Batman Brave and the Bold is one of the most retarded cartoons I've ever seen. One clearly has questionable taste if they prefer the hideous Cartoon Series over the wonderful BATMAN RIP and FINAL CRISIS.

However, given that Grant Morrison is the ONLY reason I've deigned to buy a Batman comic book in like FOREVER, Clearly, Grant Morrison's Batman is the best BATMAN HAS EVER BEEN.

@SnehalMarten: You might want to double-check the byline, although I can understand the confusion (it's because I write in a Scottish accent, isn't it?).

Either way, I've got no issue with Grant Morrison's outlandish characters. I love most everything he's done from Animal Man to Doom Patrol to the Invisibles, and I'm generally well disposed to Final Crisis and (especially) Batman: RIP. I'm just saying that this new book will appeal even to those left cold by his last two works.

There's one panel where she looks more like V from V from Vendetta than anything else, and that was a guy wearing a mask.

"Guy wearing a mask" - for the record, the pun there is only very, very slightly intended. But I was aware of it!
