Maxim's 2009 cover features Trica Helfer and Grace Park. Pics at the link. Link has 8 pictures, if someone pics up the hardcopy (!) the story has 46 pics in total (mostly small pics) I think. Link also has a 1:32 video of the photo shoot.

Classic scene. Second best scene is the one where Mal comes in the hatch just in time to see the evil alliance spy and just shoots him dead with no drama.

The term you were shooting for in this article was "Lampshade Hanging." You draw attention to the absurdity of something to get the audience to swallow it. It's a comon trope and you can read more about it here:

Great article, but I have to say that I completely disagree with your characterization of Big Bang Theory. The jokes on the show, be they about math, science, comics, video games, whatever, show that the writers, if not geeks themselves (which I find hard to believe), at least get geeks. The main characters may seem at first like one-dimensional stereotypes (the OCD geek, the socially inept geek, the hyper-horny geek, etc), but the underlying message is ultimately the same as Galaxy Quest--geeks are weird, but they are good people. Sure, we are supposed to laugh at the geeks, but not because they are dumb. It is because we see our own geeky eccentricities magnified. It's funny because it's true.

@RandomSignal: I just can't get on the BBT train. The characters are exactly the same as when the show first started. I've actually seen every episode (I had the flu and Bittorrent became my friend) but I still think that the geeks displayed on that show are pandering to a mainstream audience. Just because the science babble is based in reality doesn't really make it a show for geeks. I really, really want to like that show, but most of the time the jokes are generic and fall flat.

Let's not forget Daniel Roebuck's brief appearance on "Lost" as the hilariously disgruntled Dr. Arzt, who answered the question of what the background characters were thinking while the cool castaways were running around playing hero.

I personally think the best "pointing out how crazy this is" scene in Firefly is the discussion of River’s mind reading powers around the kitchen table.

Wash: Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction.

As with all the other commenters as I write this, I have a favourite scene too. Anyone taking the piss out of Angel is fine by me (prefer the spike clip though "Prancing away like a magnificent poof is thanks enough!")

Thank god for the DVR. I watched that Hurley-Miles scene about 6 times when it first aired. The look on Hurley's face at the end always cracks me up.

I know that my avatar pic shows my bias on this subject, but...

I've always liked the art direction of 40k. Although I loathe to call the uniforms and armors as "fashion". The "40k Imperial Gothic" look totally kicks ass.
