A quick Google Images search reveals that the rest of the Gotham City Sirens pic shows considerable junk in the trunk on Harley. I... I'm going to go sit down for a moment.
Given that the images on Flickr are marked as copyright protected and "all rights reserved", and there's no statement of use or any sort of legal terminology whatsoever on this article ... am I crazy to think that what io9 has done is here pretty much the definition of illegal (via copyright infringement)?
(And no, Fair Use doesn't really apply here: io9 is using high-resolution versions that, instead of linking back to the originals, they have wrapped in their own branding and browser. Double whammy.)
@ricko: infringement is generally only something done on purpose and for profit. In this case, it could be seen as infringement, but it would be silly for the artist to complain about free advertising.
Rucka lived down the hall from me in college. He was one of the scary Campus Patrol supervisors who brought the hammer down on me when I called the "radio" a "walkie-talkie" one night. On the positive side, he was also a big Joe Jackson fan.
Boy, he's gotten really popular, it seems. I've been out of comics long enough I've basically missed his entire career. An Eisner, even.
I thought some of Rucka's detective fiction featured a lesbian lead as well, but a brief Wiki-ing seems to find that's not the case. I wonder why I thought so.
@Lassus: Queen And Country has a strong female lead, but she's not lesbian IIRC. However, he has written 10,000 stories and comics about lesbian protagonists, especially Renee Montoya, who used to date Batwoman. (Again, IIRC.)

@OMG! Ponies!: Yeah, well, she didn't seem to have any problems putting out with me.

I love io9, but this is just asking for trouble.
