My whole family watches Dr. Who, old and new Who.

The only episode that I had issues with was 'Blink', mainly because it FREAKED ME THE HELL OUT. The kid, he wasn't even phased.

Shh! I found him a Dr. Who action figure set with the Doctor, a Cyberman and a Dalek! There are going to be epic Lego and block battles after his birthday.

This just in: Kids have nightmares about the things that scare them.

Sheesh... I'd rather have nightmares about Sea Devils disrupting our summer holidays at the lake or hissing slime-spewing giant maggots crawling in through my bedroom window, than the murderers and rapists mom insists lurk around every corner, waiting to snatch me up the moment I set foot outside the apartment or talk to somebody without asking permission.

The former will make you grow up creative, brave, and well prepared for the coming alien invasion.

The latter will turn you into a paranoid, fear-mongering puss...

It's good to scare children. Not terrorize, but scare a bit.

Nothing inspires critical thinking and self-relection like a good dose of unease and fear.

I'm happy about more Batman:TBATB, b/c that is an EXCELLENT show that I think all children should be forced to watch.

But high school drama and giant robot battles sounds like every other anime in the world.

And those of us who don't have the mega-uber cable packages only have Cartoon for our animation. So FOOEY on their live-action, b/c pretty much every time they try it, it sucks and this sounds like more of the same.

    Cyrtyyn indeed.

What is with these execs? Sometimes it seriously seems like they hate their core audience.

@atrus123: Don't forget Courage the Cowardly Dog! The alien chickens from the first episode STILL scare the crap out of me!

I haven't watched Cartoon Network before midnight in years. It's just not worth it anymore. One of the executives gave an interview with GQ last summer about Adult Swim and kept talking about how live actions shows were the future of the network. It's like, really? Because I thought that animation would fill a lot of your air time, what with "Cartoon Network" being your name and everything. I guess intuitive thinking has no place in the 21st century.

@miss_so_unknown: It's almost as if the execs have given up trying to re-engage and expand their core audience. Instead they're giving up on the core and seeking out different audiences, while just hoping that long-time viewers will stick around.

I guarantee that there are lots of folks out there who enjoy cartoons but just not the sorts of cartoons produced by CTN. Maybe a little more research would provide the network with the knowledge needed to produce cartoons that would draw in more people.
