I'm looking forward to see RDJ won the Best Supporting Actor, received it, announced that he don't deserves it, had it to Heath Ledger instead. Bring on the DRAMAAAA!

Does the phrase, "No way in hell," have any meaning for ya? Slumdog belongs in the best foreign film category, not best picture. I'm hoping the protests in India turn violent, and forever taint the proceedings.

@cash907: The Oscars don't have a best foreign film category. It's best foreign-language film. If most of the movie's dialogue is in English, it's eligible for Best Picture; similarly, if you made a movie in the US with all US citizens, but if it was in a non-English language, that'd be in the foreign language part.

I haven't seen all of the other films nominated, so it's possible it's better than some of them, but The Dark Knight really doesn't deserve Best Picture or Best Director. For all the awesomeness it contained, it had too many flaws, and just didn't come together as a complete film the way it should have. Batman Begins was superior as a film, even though it didn't have the awesome ingredients TDK had.

Also...In Bruges for Best Screenplay, please.

Nah, not knowing where he's going is the most comforting sign, I think.

Wasn't Lucas' problem that he knew exactly what he wanted? And it just turned out that what he wanted was really stupid, but he wouldn't listen to anyone when they told him that?

I liked the short story. I'm looking forward to the movie... I won't be watching these clips though. I've already seen from the trailer that there's going to be a lot of departure, so I'll just save my excitement for the full viewing experience.

actually I take that back. Under Pressure cover with the Used wasn't half bad. But they're no Pixies, putting them at the end of a movie will add nothing..

Torchwood in Toronto? Say wha? As a Torontonian myself, this has some appeal. But wha? Barrowman was here judging "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" Maybe he filmed some Torchwood stuff. Turns out the CN Tower is a giant rift machine.

@AmishJohn: Judging a whole bunch of people like that because you had a bad personal experience is petty and bigoted IMO. As a French Canadian, I take offence to that. And I don't think that kind of comments are warranted on a message board.

Then again, maybe if you came back, you'd realize you shouldn't judge people so quickly.

@RadProphet: Three weeks was about two too long. It was the only place where we were thrown out of a restaurant - for being able to understand French.

A couple of the wait staff were discussing the 'ignorant Americans', when my co-worker replied, in French, 'perhaps not completely ignorant.'

    We were asked to leave.

@AmishJohn: I deeply regret you had to live this kind of humiliation, it isn't fair I agree, but don't blame every Quebecois for this. What if someone got mugged by someone of a different race and then said everyone of that particular ethnicity was a violent thief?

@Jeb_Hoge: No Jeb, being different from you is a-okay. Diversity is the spice of life. Didn't you learn that from Star Trek? :)

About the "ignorant Americans" comment, it is a common belief around the world, especially at the moment. Justified? No. Idiotic? Yes. Still, it is the kind of knee-jerk reaction AmishJohn has towards all of Quebec's population that causes this belief.

Whatever, I might sound a bit preachy, but when someone attacks your national identity it is normal to try to defend it.

My heart hasn't reformed since I got the WALL-E DVD. I should stop watching it for a while if I want my heart to be melted again by another movie. Which will be nigh impossible now that I have a tiny WALL-E and EVE right in front of me on my desktop.
